How about play style? Does Vanderbilt play more like Kessler? Does Kessler play more like vando or gobert?
Cy was being intentionally stupid. Which is a step up for him I guess. At least it was intentional this time

Kessler plays like Gobert, but, I think it's true that Gobert's incredible wingspan is a big part of what made him such an all-time great defender.

However, I think Kessler has great hands. Far better than Gobert, who often fumbled the ball and had trouble catching passes in traffic. So it's not like Gobert is physically better in every way.

Kessler's biggest problem, in my opinion, is that he plays without passion. Which is the opposite of Gobert.

Watching Hawks play makes me think if Rudy was actually defensively covering for Snyder more than anyone.

Trae actually looks like he puts in more effort, but they are still spiraling downwards. They have looked so lost so I checked the ratings:
  • Last season before Snyder their DRtg was 114.4
  • After they signed Snyder it fell to 118.3
  • This season its down to 119.9
Just thinking if that is where the problem actually was. He talks so much about defense but does he really have a clue?
I totally agree with that. FOr me the main reason why the era Don-Rudy fail is on the coach :

- Not putting enough effort on defense
- Poor usage of Mike ability
- Letting Don playing the primary ball handler and hero ball....

Walker also fumbles passes. He also does 1/4th of what Gobert did when he catches passes

They are literally #1 and #2 in the entire NBA

The effectiveness of their rim defense is very very close. Almost no gap.

The gap shows up due to how many attempts each player has defended.
Now why would gobert have way more shots defended? Hmmm. Does gobert play more minutes? Yep. Has Kessler been out with injury? Indeed. Maybe players are just unwilling to go at Kessler cause they scared. (That last one is a joke. The gap is obviously due to amount of time on the court)

It's huge due to the fact Rudy the GOAT and Walker is just meh.
