What's new

What are your "we'd have a ring IF" beliefs?

you can't just say not sign Gail Goodrich and have Magic Johnson, or you couldn't just say keep Dominique as he was traded 15 years before we made our first finals.
I don’t agree with this at all. Taking Magic was in the cards and we made a financial decision that would’ve taken care of its self with Magic here. And what does the fact it took Stockton and Malone 15 years to reach a finals have to do with anything. A team with those three legends gets to a finals or three and wins wins a title or three long before 15 years. Both should be in there.

Without reading any responses, not even the ones off the top of your head in your initial post:
If Mitchell and Gobert had have actually bonded on court.

It's about proximity. If we're going loose, we could just say that we just needed to draft Clyde Drexler instead of Thurl Bailey, Jeff Hornacek instead of Dell Curry, and Vlade Divac instead of Blue Edwards. Boom, championship. The idea is to show proximity from the decision to a specific championship. I mean, what if we just tanked in '83-'84 to draft Michael Jordan?

If Dick Bavetta wasn't a clinically blind 123 year old officiating in that game 6 and making such excructiating howlers that cost us 6-8 points. Or wasn't on the take, could've been either
Oh he could see... he could see so clearly... he could see so clearly how his bank account would benefit from being the ultimate company man.

Again I disagree. We had the top pick we would’ve for sure taken Magic. That’s nothing close to saying maybe we get Clyde. Lol

The first thing I thought of after reading the OP was game 5 against Houston in '95. That team could have gone all the way, although I would have missed it because I was on a mission in South America at the time.

Also, as much as I like Alec Burks, it's mind-boggling to me that we didn't take Kawhi when we had the chance. It may not have brought a title, but it's still one of the biggest whiffs in franchise history.

If we traded for chris Paul instead of Mike Conley

I think Paul is just better and would have been another guy on top of gobert to whip ppl into shape defensively. I don’t like Paul, but I just always felt he couldve been more than Conley

This isn’t to take away anything from Conley, I love him and he improved us a lot

If Larry Miller would have opened his checkboom or if Malone decided to take his pay cut a bit early the Jazz could have gotten an extra piece. Instead he waited and signed for $1mm with the Lakers to chase a ring and got hurt.

The Bulls team salaries (highest in NBA) was more than double the Jazz salary in their two finals years (18th and 15th ranked). Hard to compete and get talent when ownership won't or can't afford to pay what the other top teams are willing to. It is amaaing they did as well as they did.
