Potential Trade Targets

Don't know if this is old news or new news. Tony almost never comments on potential trades tho.

The latest comes from Jazz beat writer Tony Jones of The Athletic, who was asked if Jordan Clarkson would be open to the idea of being traded to the New York Knicks when he joined ESPN 700’s The Drive with Spence Checketts. “I can tell you just from my conversations with people around the situation, I think that Jordan [Clarkson] would welcome a trade [to the Knicks] if that’s how it would go down. There’s another team out west he would welcome a trade to. I’m not going to say the name of that team and the reason why I’m not going to say the name of that team is because there’s very little chance of that trade happening.”

Don't forget that Tony is a Knicks fan . . . might have effected the response from his source.

Also, I'm not calling Tonys reporting into question here. He reports what he's told and is probably the best in town in my opinion. But a good chance whoever he was speaking too (probably Jordan himself) knows he's a Knicks fan and played on that.

Am I right @Tony Jones?

He's been a both great defender and scorer in San Antonio since his surgery, but focused more on offense than defense since the trade to Atlanta. He has proven he can do it. We have guys on our team like Clarkson that have proven they cannot. Murray on offense is a better fit too as he is less selfish. I wish he was more efficient, but he is better than what we have and a pick or two is worth it. We still have lots of other assets too. If we just wait for someone like Luka to throw everything at, then we will either wait forever because he is not coming or miss out on having a fun team with talent that still has assets to get better.
Unless he can propel us to championship status I could care less as to any of those things you talked about, and just because he played defense in San Antonio. He was hungry then. He’s since been an Allstar and got paid. Maybe he’ll revert back to his spurs days but something tells me he won’t. In my opinion his acquisition takes us out of any opportunity for a star which we need.

If your bar is "this player can definitely propel Utah to a championship" you are never going to acquire a player again.
