I think Bruce Brown is a perfectly capable role player/bench guy but if he's routinely in your starting 5 you probably have some upgrades to make.

He'd either be a rental or eff up any plans we have to use cap space next year. If you wanted Brown you could have had him with space this offseason. Hoping this one is not true as it will cause me to have an aneurism.

I like him well enough. It would be weird with his contract. If we pass up on the cap space to re-negotiate Lauri for a guy we could have signed last summer instead of doing the Collins deal... that's a pretty bad sequence.

Meh….ignoring the sunk cost fallacy, I just don’t think that Brown is that amazing of a player. He’s not a great shooter and just ok as a defender. Maybe better than ok, but he’s overrated on that end imo.

Offensively he’s really only been efficient when he can be a pseudo big man. He’s younger than KO, but KO is a lot better.

I guess we’re not giving up a ton.

Toronto once wanted THT as the centerpiece of a Lowry trade. Wonder if we could add THT in instead of KO.

He’s a big upgrade from Simone

Brown is 6'3''. He wouldn't guard the people Simone was guarding.

Also a career 34% shooter on low volume from the perimeter, so the definition of meh. Further consolidation of the guard rotation required if this happens.

With Simone and Ochai’s salary off the books hypothetically then yes we could.

Good defender = can single-handedly shut down any 5 man modern NBA offense by himself. I just don’t think that’s an unrealistic expectation as a fan
