Any chance we could sign him next year if we dont take on any big contracts? Dwill could talk him into coming to Utah to challenge Miami's Olympic trio, Utah then adds Tomic, giving them a skilled big man. Anyone like this? I know almost all Jazzfanz hate Mello, but he is a great player, and one of the few stars that doesn't need to dominate the ball.

Not as far-fetched as many will claim. I don't see Melo having any grudges against Utah at all. I'm not a huge fan of his maturity level, but I believe he's better in that regard than he was a couple of years ago.

I don't think he leaves Denver, though, and signs a max contract extension before training camp.

Well, the main point of this thread is to see if its actually possible. Would we have the caproom to offer max money?

"Melo's people in Utah" would loooovveee it. I just do not see him coming to Utah after leaving our division and conference rival. AS far as I know he is from NYK and since Walsh failed to sign one of LeBrick, Wade and Bosh, he will go hard to bring Melo to Knicks. It's safe to say that Utah is the last place among NBA cities in Crymello's list.

Depends what the max would be under the new CBA. As it sits, if it were the same CBA, and the salary cap is 60 million, the Jazz could offer around 16.3 Million, which is under the max, 20 million if they decline C.J.'s option, which I believe is more than the max, 18.5 million if they renounce Koufos before the start of THIS season, which is near max, I think, and 22 million, way over the max, if the Jazz decline both options.

After all, he did do a commercial for all the Mellow fans of Utah.
