As alluring as it may sound to coach for an obscure franchise that has no clue what its plan is and how leisurely the pressure is off, guys are competitive and want to win and cement a legacy. Win a title as the youngest coach since Riley to do so (and reasonably younger) with a historic franchise getting media attention and you can solidify a minimum of a 25 year HC career off of that at his age.

Instead he gets to look at next season where the goal is to determine whether or not we’ll convey our pick.

Oh I agree, but Mazzulla doesn't get to the finals this year, heats gonna be on.
 
I severely doubt Hardy is the type of person to waste much time with regret if it's unproductive.

Not sure about Hardy but I’d rather be in SLC than Boston. But seriously, I imagine what stings the most is having the coaching rug pulled out from him every trade deadline by DA.

I'm sure that's exactly what he's thinking.

This is somewhere along the lines of being 16 and thinking "Do I really wanna date the head cheerleader and the hottest girl in school? I mean, I'm a little inexperienced and immature and may not be quite what she's looking for. I don't even have a car."

As opposed to thinking "Hell yeah, let me hit that."

If there was a solid chance that you would get nervous on the first night and wouldn't be able to perform and the cheerleader would laugh at you in front of a whole school it could be a good analogy.

The feelings may be normal but if those feelings cause you to not do it or not take a job because of a fear of failure, then you’re in the wrong line of work and shouldn’t be a head coach not just under pressure, but anywhere.

Oh c'mon, I am just joking around the analogy. It's obvious that had he been offered the job in Boston he would have taken it. But it doesn't mean that he is sleepless thinking about it. If he had left Boston to be an assistant coach somewhere else it would have been a different story. But he has a very good opportunity in Utah and maybe long term it can be better for his professional growth.
Starting your career at the top possible step doesn't always translate to the long term success, sometimes it may be detrimental for your career.

I mean, I'd probably try to make sure that the first night wasn't in front of the whole school to begin with. Head cheerleader or not.
