2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

This draft is SO SO BAD! If Cody Williams is a top 5 ... or even top 10 player, I don't know what we are talking about...

I don't think I've watched a single top rated player in this draft who I think is properly rated if it was anywhere close to a normal draft. They are all projected like ... 10-15 spots higher than I usually see that type of players. To be fair I haven't watched a ton of them... I'm just starting to watch a bit more of them... but Sarr... Risacher... Knecht, Cody Williams... Topic... Sheppard... Dillingham.. so much meh...

You’re overreacting.

Was Taylor Hendricks a better prospect than Risacher?
Probably not but ... Hendricks wasn't projected as a no. 1 pick. And to be fair... I think I liked Hendricks more than I liked Risacher last summer. I still am to watch more of him from this season. He was HORRIBLE last summer. IMO there is a distinct possibility that Risacher is a total bust in the NBA. Like worse than Dante type of bust. He was playing like Dante was playing for us... but he was playing with and against other 18 year olds.

Another thing you have to account for that these Freshman had covid hit when they were 14/15. They had an interruption in the key development stages which is why they are probably so far behind. You got a lot of super seniors and young dudes who missed a huge developmental year, possibly 2, depending on where they live.

I do think this is a bad class on it's own, but I also think we need to start accounting for the alternate paths/transfer portal. It's hard to evaluate guys like Matas/Holland when they're getting stomped on ignite every game....and we are no longer in an age where top HS recruits are the best players on the best teams in NCAA basketball. The upperclassmen transfers have risen the level of play in the top conferences. There's also just more upperclassmen staying bc of NIL and covid eligibility. IMO, it will be very commonplace to have top 8 draft picks coming off the bench.

The scary thing about this draft is that you can almost see every player bust very easily in the top 10. I think draft boards will be all over the place this cycle. The 3 international guys held the top 3 spots for most of the season, but I have a hunch that might be because people paid less attention to them while the domestic prospects looked bad. I'm interested to see if we cycle back to Matas/Holland/Collier to the top of the draft.

I'm all confused on what picks we currently have for 2024. Our native if it lands in the top 10, a very late first (who's?) from a trade deadline deal this year? And, a very early second via the Wizards? Is this correct?

Our own if it falls in the top 10.
The worst of OKC/LAC/HOU pick(currently no.29 OKC)
Washington's second rounder(currently no. 32)
