Jazz select Isaiah Collier at pick 29

Off topic but I got to watching some Sexton highlights and there was a play that I missed during the season that was pretty incredible.
2:06 mark. 360 alley oop finish. There are some other crazy ones too. Of course the dunk contest type dunk where he bounces the ball on the court to alley oop to himself and 360 dunks it. The dunk over a couple of thunder defenders. But the coolest play might be the one where he throws an alley oop pass to keyonte who then throws it off the backboard for the sexton dunk. Might be the best play of the jazz season. (1:31 mark)

They both like to put pressure on defense and penetrate to the basket, but Brunson achieves it mostly through footwork and craftiness, while Collier simply bullies collegiate players by using his strength and fully-developed body. He will not be able to do it in the NBA against players like Dort, Holiday, Jalen Brown, Mitchell, Harden, Brunson, Haliburton... He will need to become way craftier to play the same style of offense he is used to in college.

I have very mixed feelings on this. On one hand Collier was very high on my board. I think he's one of the highest potential guys in this draft because of his age and ability to get down hill and handle the ball. He's also pretty fun to watch.

On the other hand I'm disgusted by the amount of defensively limited guards the Jazz have on their roster.

Collier should be able to learn D. Hopefully getting picked this late makes him work harder.
 
As far as comps I think Sexton and some shades of Bledsoe… not on defense but just the body and drives. Not as good vertically as either guy but projects as a better passer. If he gets interested in defense and shoots it you are REALLY on to something. May end up as a high end backup but good hell how did he end up 29? Like Bucks went for an upside play at pg and passed this guy up… yeesh.
 
People throw this around a lot, but I actually think Collier can be a good defender if he puts his mind to it. He's not long, but super strong and his twitchy athleticism allows him to make plays on defense. He was a good steals guy last year.

Chances of him applying himself to defense are low, but hey, maybe dropping to #29 is a wakeup call. To this point, it looks like he optimized his game for Ballislife.

I am a lot more keen on seeing if he can develop a real offensive game than I am his defensive game.
