IMO he’s their best rookie-scale guy and it’s not close. I’d be stunned if he’s in the deal.I’d be so stoked if we landed podz with those picks. Very good player to mix in with our young guys. GS should not trade him.

$42 million (30% max) minus $18 million (his current salary) is $24 million. Unless there’s a rule I’m missing this is what it would cost to MAX the offer and there’s no good reason not to.No, only 15.2M.
Look at his on/off splits too. He was very good for them. He would be a great piece as he adds passing and just feel that we'd need herding all the young players. Cost controlled for another 3 years. Podz and Lofton in the starting lineup... might win too many game doe.IMO he’s their best rookie-scale guy and it’s not close. I’d be stunned if he’s in the deal.
You and @Elizah Huge beat me to this but the analogy is perfect.Kuminga will be the McDaniels of the deal. Its a jedi mind trick though cuz Podz is the better asset anyway.
CBA allows a maximum 140% increase over the last year of their contract for an extension. In 2025-26 the projected 30% max starts at 46.53M. The lowest he could make in 2024-25 while getting a 140% increase is 33.24M. The difference between that and his salary this year is 15.19M.$42 million (30% max) minus $18 million (his current salary) is $24 million. lol it has a definite shot at happening. Whether or not a certain player is added in may or may not be true.Teams who are trading for Lauri arent giving you their main rotation pieces that help them win games...
It's why a Warriors deal has no shot at happening. Their draft capital (even if they offered all of it) isnt all that great and they arent giving you Podz/Kuminga when they are arguably their 3rd/4th best players on the roster (barring Lauri joining).
How about this? I would do some serious modifications but... Send the Lakers John Collins instead of Kessler. Add a young player from the Bulls. Make one of the Bulls picks unprotected and give the Jazz all the Lakers picks unprotected and remove the 2027 protection and in two Laker swaps.
Net result three fully unprotected Laker picks, two Laker swaps and two quality Bulls picks. A reclamation project in Lavine who may get his value back. And another young player from the Bulls and we move Collins.

He's saying to maximize the offer we can give in total.CBA allows a maximum 140% increase over the last year of their contract for an extension. In 2025-26 the projected 30% max starts at 46.53M. The lowest he could make in 2024-25 while getting a 140% increase is 33.24M. The difference between that and his salary this year is 15.19M.
We can pay him $42 million and are nowhere near the salary floor so we should just pay him. No point in being misers about this.CBA allows a maximum 140% increase over the last year of their contract for an extension. In 2025-26 the projected 30% max starts at 46.53M. The lowest he could make in 2024-25 while getting a 140% increase is 33.24M. The difference between that and his salary this year is 15.19M.
Well now its guaranteed to happen.0
A deal is not happening without Kuminga and they arent putting Kuminga in. So it's a 0. And if you it would take Podz and Kuminga, then it's less than 0.
