They do this because it's what works with voters. Discussing details of policies don't land very well. It's always empty appeals to emotion on both sides, facts and logic be damned.

This is the consequence of being a country full of idiots.

Its like talking to a woman.

I believe this is overly simplistic.

Our media does a horrible job of informing people. We live in such a visual society, so everything is based on quick video clips and clicks. Media outlets are hurting for money so a lot of journalists are out of jobs. Media corporations are seeking quick and easy hits. Their job isn’t to inform but to direct traffic to their websites and social media outlets. So even if Harris wanted to sit down and talk policy, the media outlets wouldn’t do a good job actually drilling down into policy. I recently read a piece that many journalists who follow politics don’t even care about politics. To them it’s no different than watching sports or reporting about a game. A media that prioritizes access and clicks and relies on video, cannot effectively inform the populace about candidates and policy.

The other issue is that the population for the most part, doesn’t actually care about policy. And it hasn’t cared for quite some time. It’s all about vibes.

Most veteran journalists these days are following the money into corporate media jobs.

what a world to live in when the unabashed shameless rebranding of a dead pork carcass to become a pig with nice shiny lipstick is what people are excited about because said piggy who doesn't speak but has a shiny new coat of lippy seems the best option

I prefer to read this without any context. It is a world to live in, sir.

Policy is literally the only thing I care about.

I don't blame the public for their ignorance, I blame the media for feeding them nothing but vibes for the last twenty years.
