What's new

Which players currently on their rookie deals do you think will be on the Jazz on their second contract?

The question will be which players are traded. As of now, I would expect the Jazz to commit to Keyonte, Cody and probably Taylor, barring a trade. Filipowski could be a really interesting long-term piece if he develops the right way.

Especially given how cheap he and Collier are both going to be vs. their expected contributions.

Hendricks as positional size, nba-role appropriate shooting and still projects as a plus defender athletically. So he is the most likely to be on the team long term.

Sensasbaugh can shoot but has the speed and quicks of the 4/5 in the body of 3. Couple that with serious knee concerns he seems to be the least likely.

I love Keyonte's drive and mental approach. But if you have Kobe's mentality but not his size/athletic ability it doesn't work as well. I worry that Keyonte will never handle the ball well enough to be a full-time PG and can't effectively guard 2's. I also worry that doesn't ever get anything easy offensively. As we saw in the summer league he can kill backup level players- maybe that will be his ultimate role. I think Keyonte will currently be in the NBA but he has a long of improvement to make to be a winning player.

Flip mostly needs to get stronger and develop more shots to use against bigger players. I really like his ability to cut, shoot and also handle at the high post. His skillset to giving an Al Horford vibe. He fits with so many other potential lineups.

Collier made the same mistakes at the end of the summer league as he made a the beginning. He will need time in the G-League to figure how to finish at this level. I see a lot of ways for him to bust out the NBA.

Cody Williams screams super-star talent. He needs to time to get stronger and to hone his aggression.

Kessler did the most important things for his career in the summer league this year. He set an actual real screen more than once. He played with more force.

I think Keyonte will stay, but maybe on a contract we're not huge fans of. And I think Hendricks will stay on a better contract. Think Filipowski and Cody will sign a 2nd contract too.

I still think people are way too low on Keyonte. I get he had a very rough year at points, but his highs were incredibly high and he has the "it" factor and the desire to be the guy. I wouldnt say it's a given he is highly successful, but he seems to have the work ethic and desire along with one of the best looking dribble jumpers I have ever seen. I just think there should be a lot more excitement/optimism about him overall. Hardy raves about his mental as well, which is harder for fans to see, but Hardy doesnt seem like a guy who just gives out praise, so I give him the benefit of the doubt of having an eye for talent.

And I think a lot of people are looking at this from the perspective of trading the weaker link who might not fit as well, but you might end up trading the best player (Keyonte or whoever) if you feel like you drafted your star in 2025 (Flagg) to get a star veteran to put next to Flagg/Lauri.

I think Cody will stay. Keyonte might have more value to another team, but I like him. I have doubts on Hendricks, but I hope I'm wrong.

It’s too early to make large judgements about the majority of players. The only “young” player I feel like we a decent read on is Kessler. I think we’ve seen his floor (last year) and his likely ceiling is something a bit higher than he was his rookie year. Kessler was an instant impact player, which was great, but he never struck me as a prospect with a wide range of outcomes.

Generally, I think it’s a fools errand to pencil in players that haven’t come close to their full development. I learned my lesson from the core 4 era.

S/O Alec Burks I always knew he would have the longest career!

Core4 for the win. What an absolute travesty. Kanter, Favors, Hayward & Burks. Squandered that rebuild.

Dude its a simple projection drill to pass the time. Not participating is fine, but being all holier than thou about it isnt.
