The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread

Trump also thinks it's fine if Russia invades any country behind on their bills.

And it's not even bills they owe anyone else.

It's like if you and some of your buddies all formed a Magic the Gathering club. Sometimes you'd get together to play, but to be in the club you were expected to buy a certain number of booster packs every month. Now these booster packs just improved your own decks, they belonged to you and you alone. So, some of the players, perfectly happy with the cards they already have buy two booster packs instead of three, and the one ******* in the group threatens to shut the whole club down because other people aren't buying as many booster packs as they're supposed to. Not only that, but the ******* tells the one known thief in the wider Magic the Gathering community where other players store their cards and says he won't say anything if the thief happens to acquire some of those cards somehow.

If you want to see some crazy stuff, search for 'Toropets'.

It is the largest ammunition storage facility in all of Russia, located northwest of Moscow. Ukraine hit it with some sort of drone attack and the ammunition cookoff is amazing.

I find that this mentality destroys souls.

1. Because it’s ridiculously cynical. Trump makes it so no one can trust anyone. People lose their empathy for anyone. They end up being their own worst selves. Democracy cannot function if political parties and fellow citizens have zero trust between themselves. In a way, people end up becoming mini trumps. It’s why he has zero love or concern for even his closest family members.

2. Because it’s ridiculously stupid. America should have allies in Western Europe not just because it’s convenient, but because we share many of the same values. True, England and France aren’t perfect. But they’re a helluva lot better than dumpster fires like Russia or China. Countries that don’t give a **** about human rights.

Sadly, I see a lot of this cynical loser mentality since I live in a red state and am active lds. It’s a shared sense of “despair.” Which quite honestly, doesn’t make sense. When was it better to live in America? The 1950s when Jim Crow reigned supreme and women couldn’t even open bank accounts? In the 1700s when half your children wouldn’t reach adulthood? I just don’t get it. America in 2024 is remarkably successful and prosperous. Most of us carry computers in our pockets. I guess prosperity is making a lot of people bored?

Humans can't be happy without something to strive against. It's in our DNA, the constant struggle for survival is what brought about the release of endorphins and built family and societies. So with all of our needs basically met, we fabricate things to strive against. In short, we can't be happy if we aren't miserable first. Too much happiness feels like a trick so we instinctually start looking for something to be miserable about. That's a driving force in all this. Not the only one obviously, but one to keep in mind regardless.

Trump has finally put his balls in his mouth, er, I mean his money where his balls used to be, errr, he put his money where his mouth is and made clear that he favors Ukraine ceding territory to Russia as a reward for Russia being so smart as to invade them and then completely stall out in the first couple days and two plus years later they have gained meager kilometers at the cost of more than 500,000 Russian soldier casualties.

First thing I think of listening to that woman. Equal time for profound ignorance. Equal time for uneducated opinions. Yes, that’s free speech, and that’s fine. And nothing wrong with posting clips that demonstrate why we really should not say ignorant opinions are somehow of equal merit to more thoughtful and educated opinions. Yet, because the GOP is held captive by a profoundly ignorant man, the ignorant opinions of his supporters are more important to party leaders than intelligent discourse. Hence now the MAGA led GOP wishes to reward extreme aggression by our chief geopolitical adversary, because the cult leader’s ignorance is now the only opinion that matters.
