They were a serious legit band, it's too bad in the US they got known for that one specific track. It's not even that it's a bad representation of their sound, it just blinded us to everything else. Probably because we're such ****ing puritans.
Not sure if anyone has heard this version. Mick is one of my all time favorite guitarists, and he absolutely does not disappoint here. Also, it's one of Elton's best songs, and given his track record, that's really saying something.

They were massive here, the outpouring of grief in the music industry when Chrissy Amphlett died was huge, from memory there was talk of a state funeral.

This whole concert is fantastic. The history is that some Playboy magazine requested a bunch of musicians to submit their "songs of the millennium." Of course, what they meant was "songs of the end of the millennium" but Richard interpreted it literally and, being a folk musician and music historian (as well as one of the greatest guitarists in the world), gave them a list of the best songs of the last 1000 years.
