What's new

2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

I mean, Lauri just hasn't been good this year.

The issue with Collins is that any team that gets him is immediately not very good on defense as he's just way too small to play center. I can't think of a team trying to win that has the contracts to get Collins and where Collins would be a good fit.
I remember after Lauri's first year here everyone thought he would keep getting better and better. And I said we'd be lucky to just get a repeat of that season.

As of now, that first year with us is looking like his career outlier.

Im still holding out hope for the Clippers.

Powell/Harden/Kawhi/Collins/Zubac is a contending starting 5 if they are all healthy (huge if).

He had quite a bit of help that first year he does not have now.

Its weird that a guy who:

- Is trying new things to self create and become a playmaker
- Has no good playmaker or other offensive threat to allow him to do what he is ELITE at
- Has had a nagging back injury
- Has a newborn

is struggling a bit. Normally a guy would totally thrive in that situation.

I have zero concerns on Lauri as long as the back thing isn't long term. That's the only noticeable thing imo is he has a bit less lift at the rim imo.

Sexton makes a ton of sense for the Clippers and is much easier for them to match salaries. They really need to improve on those KPJ minutes.

They are basically all the way tapped regarding draft assets, IIRC. If they wanna cough up ‘31 with minimal protections then fine, maybe, but I doubt they would.

I don’t think trading Sexton makes very much sense unless someone throws out an unexpected offer and he is killing the tank. I don’t see either thing happening.

I’d be eyeing trading up using Key on draft night.

I don't expect Sexton to get much if anything at all. I don't really see a future for him beyond his current deal, so I wouldn't mind shipping him out for expiring salary.

FWIW Clarkson would also theoretically fill their bench scoring need, and he has the power of friendship so it's not totally unrealistic.

I'd easily trade JC for expirings but would need some kind of asset/young prospect for Sexton. He's clearly better than the KPJ or Cole Anthony types who are getting legit rotation minutes on playoff teams. If the Magic had anything better than Cole Anthony coming off their bench they would be playing in Vegas this weekend.

Trade will come soon. Some team really performed far from their expectations and will have to make some adjustment. Don't think we see really big trade ( except Butler?) but lot of medium, low salary one. Aprons make things really complicated or impossible for many teams.

Hope we find a way to trade 2 or 3 players.

I keep mixing up collins and Collin Sexton on peeps comments.

Collin Sexton for a 2nd round and expiring feels weak. Collins for a young players, a second round pick, and an expiring feels way more exciting.

John Collins could be the main piece in an Ingram trade if Ingram changed his tune.

I know, I know, Ingram doesnt want to play in Utah. I am just saying that Collins has gone from Negative Value where we basically got him for a 2nd round pick... to being a pretty value contract worth keeping around and who would be a positive add to most rosters.
