What's new

Hey Poker Players, Let's Start A Poker League!

I'm gonna drop this. I don't think there's enough interest to make it work.

Mods, please feel free to unsticky.

Ok, well, I'll check with a few people at work and see. So far I haven't gotten a very enthusiastic response form some people I expected to be all over it. I don't want to get half-way into this thing and have every game on life-support.

One of the responses I've gotten is that it's too much commitment. There really isn't any. Play if you want. But for me, once this gets going and money is withheld I can't really back out. So, I've got to make my decision before it starts and be sure I'm up for it.

Give it a couple days and we'll see where we're at. In the meantime, please let me know your level of interest and if you know others who are interested. Don't fluff it up, I really want to know if people are going to show up.

I know I'm in. My dad says he's in, but might not make all the games. I could probably get at least one other in this same position.

Hey gameface, Ive never been to any of your poker games but I think I would be down for this. I talked to one friend about it and he wants in too. I could probably find a few more people to join if need be. I think I read that you cap the tournaments at 20 people, is that correct?

That's awesome!

Yeah, 20 players max. If I ran into the problem of having 24+ wanting to play on a regular basis I would strongly consider building another table.

Okay, so one way or another there will be a tournament on Feb. 17th. I will start an RSVP thread by Friday.

I am now strongly considering including 2 rebuy tournaments. I don't typically host rebuy tournaments (I'm sort of a poker snob and tournament puritan) but I think it'll be a nice change of pace at the 3rd and 7th game.

I am also planning a $50 buy-in ($40+$10) for the 9th and final regular season game.

I may host a non-league game between the second and third tourney for recruitment purposes if it seems like we need a boost in players for the league.

Finally, if things work out even better than I had hoped and this first game gets more than 20 RSVPs I will do what I can to either run a thrid table (not sure if I can swing this, especially on short notice) or allow alternates for the first hour. Alternates will only work if it's a few people. I might also bump it to 11 per table to start, but I hate sitting at the table with 11 people.

I say cap it at 20. It's already crowded down there with two tables (not really, but roll with it) and I can't stand being crammed into that tiny spot on a full table. It's OK if Archibald is there, because he busts in the first 10 minutes, thus opening up elbow room.

And gayer. Just sayin'.

All players at the ToC will get the same number of chips. In this case 50,000.
