2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Actually, your video shows exactly that: it was Sexton's defense, or, rather, the lack of it, that allowed Young to make a game-winning shot. Young had only 4 seconds to make it and Sexton has not even tried to slow him down. And he did not have an excuse of being too short: Young is shorter and Sexton is probably faster than him.

That is the main knock on Sexton: there are quite a few players who can generate offense on his level but Collin is literally one of the worst defenders in the NBA among the vets.
Right, forcing a contested >half-court shot without fouling is bad defense.

Idk if you guys have also been following this Cam Whitmore situation, but even though he’s proven his talent I think there are a handful of NBA teams who just want him. I expect him to be traded, they’ll probably be targeting a backup big.

Disagree strongly on the defense on that particular possession. It's a tie with a few seconds on the clock, you don't risk a foul by contesting that shot much more than he did.

It helps if you're not tiny. Sexton is exactly the guy Young wanted on that possession.

Again - Sexton absolutely should have pressured the ball a lot earlier. He gave Trae a clean runway and that was that.

Colin is not a good defender, we all agree. But on this possession, Young just make the right play. Luka did it to Rudy last year during the conf finals. Does it make Rudy a bad defender?

Huh? Rudy is one of the best NBA defenders of all time. Sexton is one of the worst of all time.

No single play decides anything. But in Collin's case, this blunder is just one more reason why he's contributing heavily towards Utah's awful defensive rating this season.

If it was anyone other than Trae Young I might say get up in his space a little more, but that guy is going to find a flop angle if you get close. Its amazing that some want to hate Sexton when he is lovable AF
Stahp. He had bad defense there. You at least have to apply some faux pressure.

Sexton be really good at offense and make defensive mistakes. The haters are just wrong that they negate each other

You have to absolutely clobber someone to be called for a foul there. It's not hard to play tighter D in that situation without risk
Just flat out wrong… sorry. They had just called a touch foul on the perimeter and a soft AF moving screen. It’s ****ing Trae… he will make any contact look like he got hit by a dump truck.

Yeah they called non shooting fouls on those.... No one is calling a buzzer beater half court foul unless you are mauling them.

I get you have to push back against the dunces who want to act like Sexton is so bad on D that he isn't valuable, but you don't have to be a moron also

I dont' have a problem with the last shot. You tip your hat to Young. The real problem is the Jazz defense was atrocious all game. It was almost as bad as an All-star game. Utah can score but they need to vastly improve the defense. Guys were getting lost on switches and Atlanta got too many uncontested baskets.
