Would anyone trade Sexton for Conley if they gave us the Pistons pick? I know that deal isnt possible due to salary, but just curious.
I have a strict "don't help the Wolves" policy. Normally I just do what is best for us but with such a direct relationship to our success I am not helping them... even if it means someone else does and becomes the beneficiary.Would anyone trade Sexton for Conley if they gave us the Pistons pick? Agreed. The trade itself is fine but the timberwolves being the team that gets the immediate improvement makes me say no.I have a strict "don't help the Wolves" policy. the additional opinion part seems like season ending surgery is on the table. They had stayed so healthy up until now.
Yup and I don't wish for injuries but man its crazy how healthy they were with some older guys in the rotation. We will see what the depth pieces can do but they are riding their guys with a lot of minutes as well.I believe they have been the healthiest team in the whole league this year. Between their top 8 guys (aka their whole rotation), they've only had 6 missed games total. They've needed near perfect health just to stay in the playoff race.
True, but it's not like they could afford Sexton beyond his 2 years. Getting the Pistons pick would be nice. But I guess with this Donte D injury and Gobert on a bum ankle, we might get lucky and see them in the lottery. In that case, I probably wouldnt help.I have a strict "don't help the Wolves" policy. Like I said... normally I am a guy who just does what is best for your team. Like when teams are all "we took less to trade him to the other conference" it is so dumb to me. Or when they are like "we don't want to help the Spurs find a partner for Wemby" I roll my eyes. Since this is a direct "helping them hurts us in some direct ways" I will just have them try and find someone else.True, but it's not like they could afford Sexton beyond his 2 years. It will be interesting as we get closer how the potential wins on either side could effect lottery odds/positioning. Like if a win over Min could mean moving from 2nd to 3rd best odds (no difference in potential top end outcomes), but move Min from 19th to 14th best odds, then you definitely want to win. However, if a win pushes us from 3rd to 4th best odds, but only moves MIN from 21st to 20th then you definitely want to lose. But then there are a ton of scenarios in between where it gets more interesting. We need to bank enough Ls to win all 4 Minny games without hurting tank position. Gifting them 4 wins on the back half of the year would be quite helpful to their positioning.
I think anything (for the most part) that ends with Minny giving us a lotto pick is the right choice. Unless something weird where it pushes us from like 2 to 5 (say we swept the series). Even if we move from 3 to 4 and it cause Minny to end up in the lotto then we get a few of those lotto balls back plus some high level potential outcomes. It will be interesting as we get closer how the potential wins on either side could effect lottery odds/positioning.
