2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

If yall doubt Sexton is not a pass first option... Next game, watch how many times he catches the ball. Put a tally mark.

Each time he shoots put a tally for the shot. Each time he passes put a tally on a column for pass. I think it will be clear after a few games what I am talking about.
You said he never passes. No one is arguing he is a pass first guard. You are a moron.

And yeah, we do want him to have a great year. He can play great and the Jazz can still lose.

Lauri isn't playing well by any means, but I mean... it's obvious he's a guy who needs a certain type of environment to really thrive. He didn't just become an All Star in a vacuum back in 22-23: the whole team had much more of a passing / ball-moving mindset, more experience and more skill. Lauri played off of that.

I don't see him getting back to that level unless heavy changes are made to this roster. Since that too is improbable in the near future, it's just best to trade Lauri ASAP.

Are you suggesting Trey Lyles was the holdup in the deal? You cant be that stupid...
I don't understand it, but yeah, the majority of their online fanbase were loathe to give up Lyles to get John Collins. To be fair, we only wanted Lyles because he was an expiring, so he had much more value to the Kings.

Sexton's Per 36 stats are pretty comparable to Fox and they should be able to get Sexton cheap. Sexton is more efficient with better shooting percentages. Sexton is one year younger and has one more year on his contract at $19M after this season.

Seems like a good fit for the Kings.

Lauri + Sexton + 1/2 Collier + Suns Unprotected FRP + possibly a Cavs swap in 28 and pick in 29 is still a good haul. Plus, the Jazz had to move him because he was going to leave by now. Trading Donovan also factors into the Jazz getting a top-5 or so pick this year from their own record.
Collin is likely worth a first... Lauri at his downgrade worth 2.5 good firsts. IDK like 5 firsts if you melt it all down. Could be worse. I always thought those deals should really be looked at as one but whatevs.

Everyone just says this is how the Kings work lol. There may not have been any hangup... they just weren't quite all the way ready to do it and waited. My guess is Fox got word that another team he didn't want to go to was making an offer for him and decided to take control of things with his reps. So Collins deal then dies or is on pause. My guess is it was like Collins for Huerter/Lyles and a top 10 protected first in 2028 that turns into seconds (Or one second) if its in the protections. Maybe they were shopping Lyles to other teams to return expiring salary and a second or something.

I guess what I am saying is... I don't think this deal broke down and then Fox requested out. I think other things happened that made him request out and this deal which was likely close to done... was paused or killed.

It also sounds like Fox is irritated they keep drafting guards... so maybe Carter really was in the deal and part of it was to make Fox happy... and now that reason is no longer applicable.

Kings going full Kangz this year and I told yall asses that the vibes were real weird.

Fox is fine defensively while Sexton is one of the worst defenders in the league.

If Sexton was average defensively, I think he would have a huge amount of value around the league, but he's been terrible and it's so hard to play a terrible defender in the modern NBA unless they're a superstar on offense.

No one is saying Sexton is as good as Fox. We are saying contracts equated, Sexton is a better value.

Everyone's forgetting that Sexton wouldn't be allowed to play a role like his current Jazz one on any team trying to win. We're trying to lose, so it's OK to let him go buck wild, play 30mpg and give up 3 points for every 2 he scores. That would not happen in Sacramento so you can't equate the contracts like that.

Collin is literally in an ideal situation in Utah... for him. Only other tanking teams would offer him this type of freedom and minutes.
