Countdown to Trump using the military against Americans

I condemned J6 in no uncertain terms and condemned the trampling of rights in the prosecution. You said nothing.

As for your screeching over a denial of due process for revocation of visas, cry harder. No one has a right to a visa. They can be revoked at any time for any reason. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made clear in his statement addressing the situation with Rumeysa Ozturk that writing an Op-Ed won't get anyone's visa revoked. That is not why she was taken into custody.

Per Marco Rubio's statement, the thing that will get a student visa revoked is participation in an action where laws are broken. The examples he gave were trespassing, vandalism, and intimidation. If there is an event where any of those takes place, the Feds will seek all the video they can get their hands on to identify all involved. Any who are identified as possessing student visas will have that visa immediately revoked, the student is notified of the revocation and informed they must leave the United States. Failing to take immediate steps to comply with the demand to leave, law enforcement will get involved in facilitating the student's exit. Thus far there have been over 300 student visas revoked.

It isn't kidnapping, abduction, human trafficking, fascism, or universal suspension of habeas corpus.

No mea culpa for making up bits to add to the constitution?

You still don't see even a little beyond your politics fed to you from the mainstream - do you think J6 defendants are the only people who've had a **** time with our court system? There are plenty of current examples you could turn to if this were *really* an issue for you and not just more GOP/Dem ********.

Us leftists, famous for not advocating for judicial reforms in the USA.

I haven't once mentioned the student visa situation. Learn to read you *******.

No, what you mentioned was everyone losing due process right and Americans being sent off to prisons in South America. I was doing you and the board the kindness of framing this into current events that are actually happening instead of the 'everyone lost habeas corpus' ravings of your imagination.

El Salvador stuff is nuts - revocation of due process for 'immigrant criminals' is effectively removal of due process for everyone.

Can't believe there are morons on board with this insanity.
You get that these are violent criminals right? Please tell me you understand that.

I also would guess that he will set out some "bait" to create the need for the violence to be used so that he can justify the use of violence.
This so much.

Imagine if there were protests right now. Mass protests, similar to the George Floyd ones in every city. His “proud boys” would pretend to be protesters and would attack teslas, destroy property, and otherwise muddy up these anti Trump protests. Whether they be protesting Dodge, protesting the deportations, or protesting Donald’s attacks on universities. His militias would frame these protests and Fox News and the right wing propaganda apparatus would use the protests as preconditions for a real explicit right wing takeover of the government. Mass incarcerations, takeovers of entire media platforms, and a crackdown of people whom Trump hates.

Probably how it is actually going to go down.

They very well may be.

If the government wants to prove that then take them to court and lock them up in prison here, go right ahead. If you want to deport them back to Venezuela (or other) and let them handle it from there, go for it.

Locking them up without trial in another country that many of them have never been to is a disgusting human rights abuse.

Why should we assume they’re criminals?

They’re innocent until proven guilty, right?

And Trump lies… a lot. What has he done to prove that we can trust what he says? In fact, I tend to believe the opposite. If he calls them violent criminals and terrorists, I question more. Again, he’s lied endlessly about too many other things.

Also, he’s a ****ing racist. It was just 6 months ago he was accusing Haitian immigrants in Ohio of eating pets. A complete ****ing lie.

A race issue would be handy, students are too white , too similar to middle America to use as the starting point for state violence. A race issue would be very handy.

Donald Trump's New Order Sparks 'Martial Law' Concerns

Story by Sophie Clark

President Donald Trump has ordered federal agencies to increase the flow of military and national security equipment to local law enforcement, a move that has raised concerns about the militarization of policing across the United States.

Why It Matters

Research into militarized police forces has found the practice can erode public trust, escalate encounters between police and citizens and blur the distinction between military operations and domestic law enforcement.

This executive order specifically has increased fears around an encroachment toward martial law. The president has already called for his government to review the Insurrection Act, which would give more domestic power to the military, and now wants to provide regular law enforcement with militaristic material.

The "Strengthening and Unleashing America's Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens" executive order, which the president signed on Monday, directs Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, in consultation with Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and other agency heads, to "increase the provision of excess military and national security assets in local jurisdictions" within 90 days.

The directive gives the attorney general and the secretary of defense a three-month deadline to begin expanding the provision of military and national security resources to "assist state and local law enforcement."

While the order does not specify the types of equipment that will be made available, past programs involving the transfer of military gear to police departments have included armored vehicles, tactical equipment and surveillance technology.

The order also stipulates, "Within 90 days of the date of this order, the secretary of defense, in coordination with the attorney general, shall determine how military and national security assets, training, non-lethal capabilities, and personnel can most effectively be utilized to prevent crime."

In addition to bolstering local law enforcement agencies, the White House has moved to expand the role of the U.S. miliary in domestic law enforcement. Earlier this month, Trump issued a presidential memorandum that directed the military to take a more direct role in securing the southern border, with the ability to detain and search individuals in the New Mexico National Defense Area.

What People Are Saying

Political scientist Joel Montfort on X, formerly Twitter: "Truly terrifying executive order from DJT [Donald J. Trump]. All local law enforcement will now use aggressive tactics to police cities, and when they break the law, those big law firms who caved will represent them pro bono. Martial Law is starting."

Chris Stoecker, a columnist for German current affairs magazine Der Spiegel, wrote on X: "This is highly worrying. Trump has issued an executive order that basically is supposed to make it possible to use military forces as 'law enforcement' and paves the way for militias 'aiding' the police with legal impunity. They are preparing to violently quash expected riots."

What Happens Next

The Department of Justice and the Department of Defense are expected to develop and initiate the expanded transfer program by July 27, according to the order.

Details on the types of military equipment to be distributed, the criteria for local agency eligibility and oversight measures are expected to emerge as the agencies work to fulfill the directive.

I thought these militias and gun nuts were supposed to prevent a dictator from taking power? I was told that dead children was the price we all had to pay to prevent authoritarianism from taking over? I guess that was a lie? I guess dead kids is the price we pay so the black president can’t institute modest gun reform after Sandy Hook? And 10ish years after the fact, the gun nuts help a white right winger take power.

Fascinating.
