Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I'd be happy with Cooper, Dylan, Ace or Tre. The one I'm a bit leery about is VJ. He's got the athleticism to be great, but his skill level has a way to go and he's a bit more risky.

I’ve also started coming around on Kon but there is no scenario he cracks top-4 for me. The upside of Ace and VJ is too important (and Ace’s is higher/more sustainable than VJ’s IMO, though I find Ace’s weaknesses far more distasteful /rant).
I will never come around on him.

My issue with Ace is that while he looks like a "star" because he makes difficult shots, he doesn't get the efficient shots and that's what actually makes a star a star. He can adjust his game, of course, but generally the reason why a guy can't get to the rim, FT line, or doesn't shoot enough 3's is that he's not good enough to do so. Maybe you can just chalk it up to him being a low IQ player without good coaching....but it is kind of a big assumption to think he's actually capable and good at these things he doesn't do.

Also, he had like 2-3 good weeks and was *** the rest of the season.

The Rudy Gay - Ace Bailey comp doesn't sit well with me.

The cloud that hangs over Rudy Gay's career (fair or not, I have no opinion) seems to be one of laziness, lack of drive, untapped potential, etc. I don't see that with Ace at all. His game is unrefined and lacks nuance but he is ultra-talented and goes really hard. If anything I see more of a Westbrook streak that you may have to "rein in" vs. someone who is going to leave some gas in the tank in terms of getting the most out of their abilities.

I have Ace as like a more offensively aggressive Trey Murphy III, or a post-30 y.o. Paul George. Rudy Gay never shot the ball like Ace.

I don’t think that’s the cloud that hangs over his career; it’s that of dog-**** hooperitis. You can be a hard worker and still take bad shots and not move the ball.

I think if you draft him you are banking on him being wired right to learn to do at least some of those things.

I personally lean positively on him. He is still so young, productive despite these limitations, and has a rare combination of size, length, athleticism, and shot-making ability (with an aggressive mentality to boot). I view him as high-floor, high-ceiling.
