Trade for Giannis?

Yeah, but if you can trade Cooper for him along with Collins/Clarkson, then you can argue that you would have to give up minimal picks to get Giannis. So you would still have a lot of picks left to make trades to fill the roster out along with dealing Kessler.
But the matching salary would get tough at that point.

I'm sure someone smarter than me, like Ainge, could figure it out, but I'm struggling.

I think SA is the team that is the blend of win now and asset rich but also has Wemby so feels like they have a long term plan beyond Giannis.

Castle and their best pick package is what I think gets it done. Houston puts up Alpy/Amen and their picks with some of Jabari/Shep etc... are they that good with FVV/Giannis/Brooks and Amen or Alpy?

I think HOU probably has the best infrastructure if you're not counting the ready made contenders who could put their stars on the table. Maybe it's just because I don't think Castle is that great, but HOU has a lot of juice with both players and picks. They'll be able to trade Giannis and have some leftover.

I'm talking about the matching salaries for the other good players.
Then you can try and deal Sexton to the Nets for Cam Johnson. Would probably have to include two first.

So after the Sexton/Walker deals your team looks like:

Collier
Reaves
Cam Johnson
Lauri
Giannis

Bench: Flip/Williams/Sensabaugh plus whoever you can add in UFA. Plus I still believe Harkless breaks out next year.

Starting Collier is kind of scary given his lack of shooting, but if he can become a semi-respectable open shooter, that's a great starting 5 with a terrible bench.

You'd have to add a nice backup 5 (Brook Lopez joins?) and some veteran guard depth. Actually a decent amount of solid backup 5 options for a team that doesnt need a ton of minutes from that player.

I feel like if it's Harper you still have to deal considerable draft compensation. With it being Flagg you have a legit argument for not adding many other pieces to the trade, which would be better for building around Lauri/Giannis.
Yeah I'm not trading Flagg. Dylan and like one of the prospects and like 2 picks is where it would have to be to make sense to me. That is light depending on how the Bucks view Dylan but I'd rather have Dylan than Castle/Amen/Alpy personally.

I guess I'm on the other side. I wouldnt trade if it was Harper, but would if it was Flagg just because I think you can build a legitimate contender with the pieces you save by dealing a player like Flagg vs Harper.

Nah. FVV and Amen or Alpy plus whatever is left out of Jabari/Shep/Whitmore/Eason isn't better than Wemby and Fox.

If it is Castle, Barnes, Johnson, Sochan and #8 in 2025, the 2026 Atlanta pick (through a swap) 2028 Boston or SA pick through, 2030 pick of Dal or Min or the 2031 Sac pick through a swap... I think that might be enough. May have to swap out Barnes and Johnson for Vassell (not sure how his value is viewed but I think someone would give a pick and salary for it).

Houston gives Amen, Green, Shep, Whitmore, the phoenix or bkn picks through swaps including 2025... that is a better package I think. Put Alpy/Giannis/FVV/Jabari/Brooks isn't as good as Giannis/Wemby/Fox. Maybe they do something with Alpy that makes more sense with Giannis?

If I was Giannis asking out I'd angle for SA if the packages are close.

Giannis/Wemby would potentially break the NBA, but I could also see it being a letdown as I think they would get in each other's way a bit offensively (unless Wemby turns a corner on his 3pt shooting consistency). Defense would be absolutely insane though.

Giving up Cooper would be an insane risk. Missing out on developing a young roster and really growing with a young core is sad, but I also feel burnt by the promise of young cores from the past.

Getting Giannis would give us our best player in franchise history and I think DA could build a contender quickly with him if Flagg is the player being dealt.

I'm talking about juice in a trade package, not the remaining rosters. HOU has a better deal for MIL than SAS. I don't think Castle is the most amazing prospect in the world.
