Game thread: Game #24 : Utah Jazz at Indiana, Tuesday 02/07/2012 5:00 PM MST

Can Paul George drive? He gets to the FT line less than Hayward with more minutes per game. I see him as more of a spot-up, transition, and defender.

Who needs driving ability when you're dropping 47% from behind the arc?!? I do think Hayward is better at taking it to the rack, but George hits his FT's at a better percentage so that pretty much evens out.

He needs to learn the double clutch, reverse dunk though IMO. Or some other acrobatic And-ONE reverse layup.

His 2-handed-Regie-Miller-Style dunks are getting old and are now being blocked left, right and centre (latest one being blocked by Chandler in the dying minutes VS NY).

Smart move in this game would be to start Howard over Bell. Despite Bell playing well against the Knicks, the better matchup is Hayward/Howard vs. Granger/George. Howard's going to have the fresher legs, too. Might even give Favors the start over Sap only because I think one second unit game (NOT a permanent move) could spark him. Really curious to see if Ty goes conventional on these road trips or gets a little creative.

Nah, Bell can guard George. George doesn't appear to be a very good player at taking his man off the dribble. I think Bell will do a good job contesting his looks from deep and defending him.

From the game stats I have seen, if you keep George quiet from behind the line, the rest of his shooting is bad too. I'm most impressed by his rebounding.

I think the best thing Bell does in get in people's faces and presses. That can make it hard to get 3's off.

If Bell "defends" George well, it will be because George is so tempted to shoot over him from distance that he takes bad shots. He'll murder Bell on the glass, and my guess is he has a nice night shooting virtually undefended from 10-15.

Goerge will just simply shot over Bell. 6'11 vs 6'5? You can be as close as refs let you - you are not challenging his shot enough being 6 inches shorter. I think Hayward will guard George and Bell will try to defend Granger for 5-6 minutes and it will be quick sub for Howard.

I think bell gets it done this game. I dont think he is an elite defender but he stays in front of his man, especially guys who are not great slashers. George is not good enough to hit shot after shot with a hand in his face. Even if he is taller bell gets his hand in there and will get some steals and frustrate him. Bell usually blocks out on rebounds so I dont know if that will be an issue. I am more concerned screens and our switches on defense.

First quarter will tell me everything I need. Indiana is a team that likes to start fast at home than cool off later. I sure hope we bring more energy in the first q.

otherwise we'll end up spending the game playing from behind = another L.
