Following Potential 2025 Draftees

It seems like every single year we have some very strong draft takes after the finals that are very specific to what just transpired. And they are usually different to the takes and lessons taken just the year before. This should come to tell you... there are many different ways to win in this league and the way you win in the future very well might be slightly or significantly different than the way the current champions won their rings... I feel like one of the constants that you can say about pretty much every championship team is - great players playing really hard... competitiveness. It's almost self-evident, but it's surprising how often we miss to emphasize that last simple bit.

With this title in particular, people are going to have hot takes because it will definitely decide whether you can win like Indiana. Whatever that means. What I hate about the whole “can you win a championship with X” style of discussions is that we act as if alternative outcomes had zero percent chance of happening. If IND loses, it will doom them as if they had no chance and they might as well give up and tank. If they win, it will some how make them the perfect model for team building.

I’m pretty sure that he’s one of the few SLCDunk guys that made me swear off that site. Even as a very dumb high school kid I knew that place was insufferable.

It’s one of the reasons why I swore off Jazz twitter as one of the worst places on the internet. And I still feel that way haha. But I couldn’t resist draft twitter. That is also an insufferable place, but some entertaining/good takes mixed in.

I’m going to laugh my *** off if the whole offseason has been about debating, arguing and stressing out over the whole VJ vs. Tre vs. Ace vs. Kon vs. Fears debate. . . only to have the Jazz trade up to #2 and draft Dylan Harper.

I’m not going to rule out a Lauri to the Spurs deal that swaps 2 for 5 plus other stuff.

Ah, Jazzfanz uninimity of happiness! Then Harper comes in and stinks up the joint in Summer League and everyone is yet again on deathwatch.

I can’t decide how mean to be about the SGA comp to Tre that has now infiltrated James Hansen which means a bunch of dummies gonna run with it.

Yeah, and this Hansen guy is pretty funny with his Lauri hate too. He doesn’t realize it’s become an obsession for him and that it makes him look a bit weird when he pushes it so hard.

I kind of feel like the actual perfect model for winning in small markets like us is what Presti has been doing for close to two decades now with OKac and of course if OKC win I will be milking this for a while

Honestly, AA's answer to how to build a team is boring but correct. You just have to keep making the right decision over and over again. No plan is going to work without a sequence of good decisions and of course a lot of luck. The Pacers tried to sign Ayton. The Raptors tried to trade Lowry to the Knicks. You need to be good, but also it's better to be lucky than good

Not sure why that'd change their draft plans, Tre isn't a PG, he's a 2 guard.

I just don't see them drafting Tre when they already have two volume shooters in Ball and Miller.

I have a podcast rant coming about the difference between models and methods but we have other stuff going on. Yes the overreaction is going to be wild but I think both what Indiana and OKC have done is great for non-destination markets.

Both guys... serious... team first. Kon has the shooting that would help and VJ plays defense and would be electric in the open court with how that team plays. They are in a pretty good spot, so watch em eff it up and take Jeremiah Fears.
