Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Think his bad start soured alot of people on him, me included. I probably need to go back and watch his recent games to see how he looks. He just seemed very similar to Collier.
I think people swung too far on him. I thought people would swing back, but it never happened. He doesn't seem to get the kind of grace other young players get on his weaknesses.
I'm not a fan of guards that don't defend at a high level and have questionable jump shots, so I do get the concerns.

I have a weird thing with Kas. I watch him and I love a lot of what I see. I love how he plays the game. He is the guy who's lower on my board that I think has relatively high chance to make me look foolish for not having him much higher. But I just can't shake that feeling that a lot of what was working for him in college will not work against better, longer, stronger, more skilled athletes in the NBA. I just feel like he's hanging by a thread on a ton of his possessions. I had very similar feeling with Reed last year and it was the reason I had him much lower than consensus. At least Kas has the size so I think he has a better chance to succeed IMO.

That’s fair. In both cases the handle is a limiting factor, but I also like both prospects because of their ability to scale down if they can’t be a true offensive hub. Could be a personal blindspot of mine. But for now, I believe in both players. I think the handle can get better over time.

I know exactly what you mean. For him, everything looks very difficult. Using everything in him, his dribbling and craft, he just barely gets by. There is this sense that when the margin closes in the NBA, he just won't be able to get by.

I potentially have the same blind spot for Kas. It's really hard for me to imagine that he can't be an off ball player, but it's very far from a guarantee.

I don't really feel the same way. He uses a ton of craft to initiate offense, but I see that as a positive not a negative. He looks extremely comfortable doing it and I think it will translate.

Hmmmm, he does have craft to make something out of some of the drives he does. Sometimes, I think he uses his step back 3 as a crutch when he doesn't have the ability to get past guys. One possession sticks in my mind where Queen got switched on to him and he couldn't create any advantage, defaulted to a step back and got blocked by Queen.

I may also be overvaluing/overrating his BBIQ and motor. On paper, the big question would be the turnovers and that’s typically a reflection of poor BBIQ. But I truly think he’s a smart player that also has a very high motor. So that’s a weakness on paper that I see as a strength in reality. Defensively he’s not great, but he’s also tireless and maybe he can be better if he’s not also carrying a massive offensive load. Mistake prone? Yes, 100%, but I think he’s a winning player who plays the right way. And from what I’ve read from Barcelona fans, he’s someone you want to go to battle with.

If Fears is a 10/10 ball handler, Kas is honestly like a 4/10 and that counts for something, a lot of something. But Kas is just so much more believable in the other areas imo. Way better at finishing, passing, defending, bigger, more believable shooting etc.

My overwhelming instinct is "too small." Hard to ignore the efficiency though.

Going by advanced stats, he is actually a decent defender. His wingspan isn't great but its decent at 6'6" comparable to Fears at 6'5.3" and Kas at 6'7.8". The shooting is lights out at 62% TS and it seems he was underutilized at Michigan State. If this guy can bring 95% (or even more...) of what Tre Johnson or Fears can bring..... he is smaller but neither Tre or Fears plays defense at all so does the size really matter?

Pretty damn good list of players, but that list wont include the guys who got drafted and arent in the league anymore due to not being good enough.

Wonder why being Canadian isnt viewed more positively. They might have the biggest hit % among any country.
This one is a little bit older, but includes their draft position:

I was forgetting that Anthony Bennet was Canadian
