Utah Jazz Select Walter Clayton Jr, Pick 18 (Trade)

I mean, the timeline fit is very weird because Ace is like 4-5 years away and Clayton is ready to go right now, but I guess the Jazz just picked two guys they liked.

Philosophically, it's kind of funny to take two blackholes to join a roster full of blackholes. At least these guys have defensive upside.

Clayton is such a bad fit with Keyonte, Sexton, and Clarkson that I assume we're trying to trade all three, but they've been trying and failing to trade a lot of these guys for minute.
Ace might be 4 to 5 years from entering his prime but he will likely be a really solid player by year 2.

If you truly think the only way to evaluate players is through that simple scope, I've got nothing for you. I thought we were in a place where our analysis went beyond that but I guess not.
i'm asking you to teach me. tell me how murray was different that translated into him being a better player. i'm clearly missing something in your mind, but i don't know what that is. so help me out.

and it's okay if you don't have anything. i get it. sometimes it's just easier to tell people they are wrong.

Like I said, I don't have anything for you. I'm not able to explain to you how the context is different for a starting PG on a 54 win team and a player on a 17 win tanking team. I can't teach you to broaden your scope beyond PPG and APG. You'll have to figure out how players can have beyond that on your own. I wouldn't even know where to begin. I initially assumed we were close enough to have a conversation, we're not.

lol. so adorable. you do condescending well. i'll give you that.

Kas was coming back from injury, is three years younger, bigger, and vastly more skilled on the ball.

WCJ is a grinder and clutch, no doubt. As to whether that translates to the NBA level is a big question. Trey Burke was also clutch as all hell and that never mattered.
To me WCJ is the ultimate swing for the fence type of pick. More so than Bailey. If he translates, he will lead your offense with 20pt a game and become a perennial all-star candidate. If he doesn't translate, he is basically another Jimmer/Burke and will be out of the league in 3 years. Don't think there's any space in between given his size, defense and questionable playmaking. It also comes down to making his shots against NBA defense.

Lmao jesus christ.

Payton Pritchard exist. There is a middle ground between him being an all-star or out of the league.

Pritchard is definitely on the higher outcome. I do believe he will score close to 20ppg and be considered for all-star given where Boston is headed this upcoming season. Bar for “all-star candidate” isnt that high. I'm not saying Steph or bust. But someone like Jamal Murray(who never made all-star btw)/Pritchard would be ideal.

Of course not. Walter Clayton Jr. is a 6’2” combo guard that most would envision as a one more than a two at the next level.
Exactly. It was weird how you said that if Cody Williams takes a quantum leap then where does that leave Isaiah Collier since Cody's play doesn't do anything to Isiah.
