Could the Jazz Milk Washington if The Ace Saga Sours?

But it would help our tank for AJ. So it might actually benefit the jazz.
Would be way more costly for ace

My guess is that Ace has plenty of ways to make money over the next 12 months if it comes down to that. At 18 what he makes the next few years is not the issue.

Yep I agree with you. And it still would be more costly for Ace than the jazz. Ryan will be fine financially as well if Ace doesn't play.

I wish if a player decided to not report for an entire year and re-enter the draft, every team made it clear that they weren’t going to draft that player. That would end this threat immediately. The entire integrity of the draft is contingent on players playing for the teams they’re drafted by. If players can now dictate who can draft them, then the entire draft collapses.

I understand this type of stuff has happened in the past. Of course players have preferences for big markets and warm climates. But I’ve never heard of a guy legitimately considering sitting out a year and re-entering the draft. If this happens, the NBA needs to rethink the entire process. Otherwise, I’m not sure how small markets dig themselves out of these holes.

I’m also not sure the nba can afford this type of stunt. Aren’t tv ratings tanking across the board? Doubt this will help the NBA’s reputation.
Easy fix is that NBA steps in right now and puts an end to this.

Either report and sign on the dotted line or you dont get to enter the NBA ever again.

Exactly.

Don’t like where you were drafted? That sucks. Once your rookie deal has expired, go out and find the team you want. But until then? Play with the Jazz or don’t play in the NBA. Enjoy China or something.

While I agree with the sentiment here, once his rookie deal has expired he is a restricted free agent and still can't find the team he wants.

This thread is a blast. We've got a drug dealer, a fake agent, a loopy father, a young kid who has no clue, etc. And the Jazz fans sweating. Slow down, folks. The smoke will clear, and the kid will play for the Jazz. Will he live up to the hype? We'll have to wait and see.
With all due respect, nobody knows if he’ll even show up.

What’s funny to me is how cheap airline tickets are and how much ****ing money even rookies make. Don’t like utah? That’s fine. For 3 years you can afford private jets every other day to get you to Vegas, Los angles, and Miami so you can live it up.

I don't think this has anything to do with Salt Lake as a place. I think it has to do with Washington back-channeling, "Come here and you'll be THE GUY." And his agent looks at Utah and sees Lauri, Kessler, Sexton, Keyonte, Hendricks and thinks, "Ace isn't going to be the guy there. The lane is not wide open."

Agree that no one knows for sure. I think he will though.
Question for now is do we already need to start having the worrisome conversation of if he will demand a trade/leave the first chance he gets? This whole thing is just kind of depressing as a jazz fan and is causing some buyers remorse by me. (I loved the pick when it happened)

In that regard, I think they are wrong. From most reports Jazz are trying to rid themselves of their vets and lol at Hendricks, Key or Kessler being "the guy". I can see the Lauri angle I guess but seems weird to not want to play with any good players and to want to lose as much as possible.
I think the lane is extremely wide open. He will get all the minutes, shots, touches, etc that he would get in washington but probably have more success in winning games in Utah.

Washington has Jordan Poole, Alex Sarr, Marcus Smart, Krish Middleton who might all want touches as well.

I mean either team is going to give him the rock a ton and play him a lot of minutes. The lane is wide open whenever you go to a team who sucked as bad as utah and washington did last year.

He made a decent point about Sanders. Certainly nowhere close to apples to apples comparison between the two young men but sometimes drama can really drag you down. Sanders lost a TON of money partially due to his drama.
The very first part… about the rumors… there is some BS around this and around Omar. He is not repping Ace. He is grabbing as much money and power as he can.

Has anyone engaged with the actual premise of the thread: what would you require from Washington to give them Ace?
I saw a few posts about it. Saw someone say "give us Tre and a future first for Ace"
I would obviously do that.
