2025 Annual All Time NBA Draft

Yeah, I may have painted with too broad of a brush there. I'm not saying Shaq's presence was the "advent" of importance of having good bigs. But I feel like he was the driver of the "when in doubt, go big" draft mantra in the 2000's where teams just knew that if you didn't have a big athletic body to compete with him come playoff time, you didn't stand a chance.

Outside of the Spurs with Duncan, and the Pistons series, nobody really stood a chance anyways. It was so fun watching him in the Finals vs. the East teams. Felt like an automatic 35-15. Poor Sixers / Nets / Pacers just didn't stand a chance.

That mantra was in place after Wilt and Kareem. Bigs were always the #1 pick. It was the most important position long before Shaq. Now Shaq did cause GM’s to sign bigs that wouldn’t have gotten contracts because teams needed guys to eat fouls.

I screwed up my draft so bad by thinking about the 20’s pick too much.
I ended up taking Franz Wagner with: Mourning, Mutombo, and quite a few others available. I’m sure I’ll lose because of that pick, though I’m trying to make up for it. Every guy on my list is getting taken though. I’m frustrated with myself.

It did but it’s not why Shaq dropped to #18. That was weird. But guys like morning Wilkins and Moses dropping is a direct result of the 20’s era.
To me the best strategy was to use the sixth pick for a current guy and put him on the end of the bench. Wasting an early pick on a young guy is a head scratcher to me when they are not going to matter in the "competition" Is Anthony Edwards vs Tyrese Maxey on the end of the bench going to sway any votes?

Welp I’m gonna go with best available player rather than best fit for my teams and pick

Derrick Rose

One of the best primes in NBA history

Also Cade Cunningham is on the block for trade if anyone wants him

Steve Nash // Derrick Rose
Mitch Richmond // Sidney moncreif
KD // Cade Cunningham
AD
Shaq // Bill Walton
