Missing on Matas while taking Cody one pick earlier for an NBA talent evaluator is really rough. Missing on a player in a different mold or position is one thing... missing on a same type of player that badly gets guys fired. Which I believe the rumor was some of the scouting guys got canned last year.

I wasn't high on Matas after being deceived by the G League draft prospects in prior drafts... so I can't thump my chest here.

Nah Taylor gonna be fine. Can't judge that one too harshly with the injury. He was solid as a rookie. Its just disappointing cuz its not Wemby, Amen, etc.

He didn't look special in the Gleague. He didn't shoot well, couldn't get by people and his mid-range game was kind of clunky. He's athletic in the open floor though.

he really wasn't that good. and i saw him two or three times in HS and he looked bad to average. in high school. it's one thing that makes evaluating young players so tough. they are still so young, and might just need a few switches to flip and they can be incredible - assuming the length and athleticism is there.

I was pissed then. Still am pissed. But I didn't realize just how right I was. Matas just jumped off the screen for me. Cody was lanky but looked passive. And... here we are.

I can. He was one of my favorite players in the draft.
