Jackpotting Around - It's Just One Game... But...

I find the Walker talk exhausting. We don't have to make a decision now. It's not nearly that big of a deal if he isn't signed to an extension

I need some context for the Sarah Todd/Keyonte stuff
Sarah was on Hardwood Knocks and went really hard. Specifically saying Key is the worst defender in the league. It isn't the first time either. She's generally been pretty negative about the team and she was speaking pretty freely. Like freely enough that if I was in the Jazz org or a player she'd have a hard time getting any info from me.

It is but I am firmly on the other side of the Jazz org on this one and have mostly been pro-organization... so this is a battle I am taking on. Part of the reason we wanted the pod is to be able to call this stuff out. So much of the media is comprised of team employees or folks that can't speak freely without some repercussions. I think we are being indecisive *******. Crap or get off the pot here.

Or just sign him in RFA....

They didn't actually even negotiate though. If you want a good deal, now is the time. Wait for RFA... you have 4-5 bidders and it only takes one idiot to get wild. Lets just say you can lock him up for 25M right now. If he finishes the season healthy and Chicago, Charlotte, LA, Wash, Brooklyn have ample cap space (they all should) you think one of those teams isn't gonna get wild on some young FA list? Now go look at the FA list. A 3+1 at 35M+ is not out of the question.

I think they are misreading the market and should have used this summer to grind something out with Walker. They didn't because they aren't sure about him.

Wrt to Walker, it's obvious that the Jazz don't love him which may or may not prove to be the right judgement. If the money was what it seems, I think it's a mistake, but time will tell. What's concerning to me is that this just seems to be another situation where the Jazz drag it out and mismanage another asset. This wishy washy stuff hasn't paid off and I don't think it's gonna pay off here either.

I don't think this will be a mistake that sinks the franchise, but it's just another event that inspires poor confidence in the FO. NGL, I think FO has been pretty trash since the Don/Rudy trades and this greedy/indecisive approach is the biggest reason. What is a situation they managed well? Simone?

Simone and Ochai I think.

But yeah... the player is not the issue... the process here is. We have commitment issues and the costs will add up. I gave them a ton of benefit of the doubt and explained away some of the most recent stuff but I'm over it now.

I mean... just think about what their goals are as stated by the hero Tony Jones. They want to be the most competitive 20 win team ever. Cool... that is simply saying you want all of the good and none of the bad. Life rarely works out that way. Good luck.

Stringing along Kessler, slighting him at many different moments, not rewarding him when he did what you asked him to....I just don't think that's a recipe for success. The Jazz could be 100% right that Kessler is not worth $25M a year. But I'm fairly certain someone else does and would trade for Kessler valued at $25M a year + the added bonus of him currently being on a rookie deal.

A Walker deal just doesn't make sense for the Jazz. And if Walker thinks he can be a 30 million a year player, it doesn't .ale sense for him either.

Walker still has to take another step forward to make me comfortable with 30 million a year. The Jazz are doing the smart thing.

A Walker deal doesn't make sense if the Jazz don't think he's good enough for that deal.....okay, then you should have moved him instead of dragging it out. If Walker takes a step forward to make the Jazz think he's worth $30M, he's probably going to be worth $40M to other teams.

This very much seems like a situation where the Jazz do not value him more than other teams do....and again, that's fine. But this is not a good way to manage that situation. The way to navigate that situation is to trade him at a premium.

Stacking bad decisions.

We initially had bad decisions here a little and there a little, justifying it with our perceived mountain of assets that afforded us to make those mistakes. But then the valuation changed and now we’ve had a number of questionable decisions stack up and our ability to afford mulligans has been compromised.

Gave this one a listen and it was really fun really really really disagree with not picking up Cody’s third year though 6 million in cap space isn’t enough for me to pull the plug on him just yet I still believe he could end up as a solid rotational player

On the other hand, at least quite a few of our draft picks appear to be panning out
