Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

And how are the jazz supposed to build a title worthy team? If we don’t get a top 3 pick in this draft we are screwed and back in that old familiar spot too good to build through the draft not good enough to win in the playoffs. The only way that Jazz are going to contend as if we get a top 5 to 10 player and the only way we’re doing that is through the draft which means we need a high-end pick after this year we ain’t getting that and we probably ain’t getting it now unless the Jazz truly become despicable with their tanking methods so please tell me how this is the right way? we just got screwed over by two former BYU players go figure.
You are so lost. Lineup of Key, Lauri, JJJ and Kessler complemented with solid role players will give any team issues.

You need a team that can win games, not one player. Celtics have been to conference finals and NBA finals more than Bucks and in their title run Tatum was garbage and Brown was their best player.

Or we go and get a top 3 pick and despite all of the promise of the top three this year there is NO GUARANTEE they are a special player no matter how many top 3 picks we get through tanking… we could end up with a Micheal Beasley, Darko, Exum, Fultz, Ball, Wiseman the list goes on there is truly no such thing as a can’t miss prospect

I hate the die hard tankers idea that endless losing will somehow guarantee us a top 5 player in the league because that’s just simply not true I mean how many of the top 5 right now were top 5 picks?

I agree if we lose our pick this year the trade becomes a little worse but if we end up with 6 there’s no guarantees that player is worse than the player drafted at 2 I mean for crying out loud Keyonte at 16 has been MUCH better than scoot Henderson at 2 in their draft class

EVEN IF WE LOSE OUR PICK THIS YEAR our core is now good enough to atleast be competitive for a long time and if Keyonte ends up being that guy which is a possibility not a lot of people have been talking about we can be great without a top 5 pick who might be out of the league in 5 years

I truly do think we end up keeping our pick this year and turn into a really really solid team who win a lot and go deep in the playoffs and the people who hate this trade will look back on this and realize they were stupid for wanting to lose for the next 10 years HOPING we somehow LUCK into a top 5 player

Your and to be honest alot of peoples defeatist my way or the highway tanking routine is getting old and that time is up.

In order to build something up, you have to tear it down and build it back up, not tear it down and slap some tape on it

We also are going to keep tanking to keep the pick this year unless we are making another big move.

Also Keynote and Ace have top level potential. Keynote is more likely to be a top player than a lock this year. He's putting up top level stats at his age and is still very young and developing.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this but JJJ made the all star last year so he's part of the anti-rest provision by the league. Meaning, if we decide to sit him in any random game we risk accruing penalties(fines) for it.

Every player has some injuries, it's easy to reduce minutes, and make bad lineups. Jazz are have shown to be pretty elite at this the past two post all star seasons.

I really hope the tank optimists(the ones who believe we can still tank our way to a top 5-6 pick this year) are right. I am HIGHLY sceptical. I think multiple teams will get worse by the trade deadline with the express purpose of tanking. I think we just got better in the immediate AND we got much more tank proof - our biggest tank asset was how horrible our defense was. Second best tank asset was how we could put players like Taylor Hendricks and Clayton Jr in and reliably lose those minutes. This is all gone now. We added a player who is hard to tank with to a roster that was already hard to tank with without massive shenanigans.

My worry that we will lose our pick right now is at about 9.5/10...

Losing our pick would suck, but its a 20-30% gamble to get a great player at best (even #1 overall pick has lower than 50% hit rate).

However we are set up to make a splash with or without the pick. Its just that with the pick there is a small chance we become an absolute powerhouse with 5 starters who all could be all-stars in their own rights.

Arguably we already have that. But, yeah another high pick is always great.

In most drafts I would agree, in this draft, I think the chance we get a great player in the top 5 is higher. And IMO we still need to find one more truly great... exceptional player. With this current team I don't think we are close to OKC or SAS or HOU or DEN... or... hell even MIN if they manage to trade for Giannis. We still would have bunch more picks we can use to either hit in the draft with or consolidate for another big trade, but... it's still very much in the air. I think this current team max'es out at about seed 6 unless there are injuries for opponents combined with relative health for us.
