Alec Burks = The MAN

for his actions towards Dallas' bigs , and for doing what Favors was too scared to .

I loved him not backing down and it seems like the vets Watson and Bell have rubbed off on him.

I think he'll be our team leader for years to come. I LOVE HIS CONFIDENCE.

We'll hopefully soon put a real PG next to him like Damian Lillard, the future is bright my friends

YOUNG CORE

PG- Lillard
SG- Burks Hayward
SF- Evans
PF- Favors
C- Kanter

Are you trolling putting Hayward on the bench and letting Evans start at SF? That's probably in the top 5 for the dumbest things I've read on here.

I like Hawyard more as the future backup SG to Burks. He matches up much better physically with two guards in the Nba. He can slide to SF, but i'd prefer to develop Evans there. Obviously we'll have to get another future SF to go with Evans. I wont mind losing Howard and Miles

PG- Lillard, Harris, Watson
SG- Burks, Hayward
SF- Q.Miller, Evans
PF- Favors Millsap
C- Big Al Kanter

I like this potential future lineup. Especially Quincy Miller. I'd take a few guys from Baylor's team, Pierre Jackson-PG, Perry Jones III-SF, Quincy Acy-PF, and Quincy Miller-SF.

Worshiping Burks, and putting Hayward on the bench shows the type of fan that likes highlight reel plays but doesn't understand what it means to have a complete game. This is the difference between a lottery team with top ten picks and a Dallas team full of veterans who wins the championship. Hayward might not be a flashy superstar type athlete, but he has by far the most complete game compared to all four of the other young players (not just including but especially Evans, the forgotten young player.)

This isn't to say that I don't have high hopes for Burks, but don't discount Hayward, and definitely don't supplant him with Evans.

cctrackstar just what has Hayward done to demonstrate he is soo much better than Burks. the First 2/3 of his rookie year Hayward was a big pile of crap on cracker. The last 1/3 of the year (when we were out of the playoffs) he played like our future starting small forward. This year Hayward has had maybe five games where you think he is going to be very good, but the rest of the year he has been tenative almost afraid on the offensive end. He has some great qualities but he has to bring it every game before I would hand him the starting job. Burks hasn't been great either, but he hasn't been handed the opportunities that Hayward got when he was a rookie. When Burks plays I see flashes of brilliance. I think its very fair to say Burks may eventually start over Hayward, especially if Hayward does not continue to progress.

Hayward may have a more complete game than Burks, but he doesn't have anywhere near Burks' intensity/drive/confidence. He does show flashes of it but seems to get too down on himself. I think he can change that, but until then all of those attributes from Burks evens it out IMO.

He also doesn't have his speed, athletic ability, or ball-handling ability. On top of that, he is even shooting worse than Burks from deep.

Agree. The Jazz need some outside shooting on the first unit. That can come from Burks. I like the mismatches Hayward was getting last year as a backup 2. Ultimately, I'd like to see Hayward and Millsap head up the 2nd unit. I think both could thrive coming off the bench.

Hayward needs to go to the bench to see if that inspire him to be more aggressive in the 2nd unit.

And I think the Hayward should be a 2 thing is clearly bogus. It doesn't matter if he is a two or 3, he has shown he can guard either well enough. I think he does better against 3's personally.

Also, in the past I have been a Batum hater, but damn is he doing good this year. I say we screw Portland and sign him to a front loaded contract. Burks and Batum starting wings would be killer.

I don't. He seems to get overpowered or shot over more than beat off the dribble.

Now that I can agree on. Batum is just 23, his best years are still to come.
