Ty Corbin is...

Perspective is something that is seriously lacking with the common fan. That said, I think Ty has done a very nice job, all things considered. I have some qualms - particularly his riding Al and Millsap so hard and his refusal to put the 3rd best wing (at worst) in the rotation regardless of his performance or regardless of how terrible Bell or Miles can be - but the Jazz could do far worse.

To echo GVC, I don't know what's going on behind the scenes or what else motivates the guy besides, seemingly, 'MUST WIN RIGHT NOW AT ALL COSTS MUST ENSURE JOB SECURITY.'
 
Corbin has done an admirable job of keeping the team competitive, but overall mediocre. The problem with what has happened this year is that there have been no chances taken to stray from that mediocrity, either for good or bad. I'm not one to blame this all on Corbin, but as a fan, if I know we'll be a slightly below average, just miss the playoffs team, then show me the future so I can be excited. Right now it's hard to get excited because I know what Paul and Al bring, and it's not enough.

The record is not the problem. The players obtaining the record is the problem. If Corbin had this record with Favors, Kanter, Hayward and Burks all averaging over 25 mins per game, he is a freaking genius. The problem is he is playing players that are either at their ceiling or on the downhill of their career. Jefferson, Millsap, Harris, Howard, Miles aren't getting better. They are what they are, and they are not the future, and they are not winning. We know that that core of players will be an 8th seed at best.

The real question is, What is Greg Miller's goal? If it is squeak into the playoffs every year, then all this makes perfect sense. If it is build a team to compete for a title, then this is all insane.

Agreed. Ty has never seemed to have any vision of the future or any strategy to get there. When first hired he had no clue about who to hire as assistants, and then look who they got. Right now he seems stuck on riding the vets in a desperation move to get into the playoffs. Why, just to get blown out 4-0?

I think he could have easily survived a bad year win-loss wise by emphasizing developing the youngins and implementing a modern game. But again, he just seems to lack vision.

If not, then I'm afraid I don't have too much interest in watching the Jazz for the remainder of the season. Why do I need to see Al, Devin, Howard, and CJ audition for other teams? Why should I sit through a game to see Favors, Kanter, and Burks combine for 30 minutes?

trade Al, commit to defense, and build some ****ing chemistry by moving the ball around. That's all.

Well said. I think Al and Devin are probably untradeable right now due to their high salaries. And I'm not in favor of the Jazz taking back worse contracts in return. But I'd like to see CJ, Raja and Howard traded. Certainly we could pick up some draft picks in return?

And I definitely think the young players NEED to get more minutes. I'm restless, but I'm willing to think that perhaps there might be something in play for the 15th. If not - and it's Ty's decision to go with these vets at the expense of developing the youngsters - then pass the petition and let's recall Corbin.

No offseason, Rockie Mountain Review, no training camp.
Two rookie projects and two sophomores who did little their rookie year and he wasn't allowed to work with them in the offseason.
No backcourt.
Not a single All-Star.
No starting point guard.
CJ Miles.
No John Wall, Steph Curry, Deron Williams, Kyrie Irving, or loaded pieces teams like Golden State and Sacramento.
No 3 point shooting whatsoever--point two ninety nine.
Raja is the only player over 34% with a meaningful amount of 3 point attempts.
Minnesota is only 2 games better with so much more talent.



But Tyrone Corbin sucks and is unprepared to coach, right chode monkeys?

This is getting ugly fast. This team is in serious trouble. The problem is, I was blasted before the season because I said I wouldn't mind a few losses if it meant developing the youngsters. The argument against me was, you can't risk turning the young guys into perennial losers. What is happening to this team is far worse. We are in danger of turning Favors and Kanter into Jefferson's. This dumpster fire is starting to get out of hand here.

The stupid thing is, the fix is easy. You can easily unload Bell. You can easily reduce Jefferson's minutes. You could get rid of Harris if you tried (ie, LA for nothing). Minnesota desperately needs a sg. So does the Clippers. CJ could go to either for a future second rounder. Millsap could be traded for a solid wing player yesterday. You need to save the young un's from this mess. The question is, is Greg willing to lose a couple of bucks for a bigger payday down the road? Is KOC willing to risk his job to win a title? I don't know.
