What's new

What would you give up for a top 3 pick?

If we trade our picks + Millsap and wait till 2013 to get our PG, here's what our team could look like

PG - (Harden, Curry, CP3, Lawson)
SG - Burks, Hayward
SF - (Barnes, MKG, Brittney Griner), Hayward
PF - Favors
C - Kanter, (Pekovic)

It would likely need to be in FA.

Exactly what I meant if you look at my possible PGs

We'll easily have enough money to get a franchise PG (problem is them wanting to come here), as well as a serviceable big (got my eye on Pek).

Is there such a thing as too many young guys?
Michael Jackson didn't think so.

If the wizards get the #1 pick I could see them trading it to us for Kanter and our two first round picks. That would give them a frontline of Kanter with nene and two picks to fill in SG and sf!

CP3 is never going to be a Jazzman. I'd love MKG is we got some shooters. Also that is an awefully young team.

I'd rather have any of our bigs than anyone in this draft besides Davis. I am not high on MKG. The incentive to get the 2nd or 3rd pick is not there for me. Probably the highest projected player I'd want is Barnes.

In agreement.

Me 3, and I wouldn't do Kanter and the 2 picks this year, like was suggested above. I think Kanter is underrated on this board.

I don't think there's anyway we can get Davis. Having said that, would people do Millsap + the 2 picks for #3?

Questions of his explosions are legitimate, but I also feel people forget what an impressive feel for scoring and acumen that he has for being so insanely young.

I also think he's the best big we have on the defensive end. Favors has the best physical profile, but Kanter - somehow - moves his feet better than anyone when forced to guard ballhandlers. I'm impressed every single time. I don't know why Favors doesn't do that better (maybe because in the back of his mind he knows/thinks his length compensates or that being behind on the play actually makes it easier to block shots, I really don't know), but Kanter's ability on this side of the floor has been the most surprising thing that's happened this season.

I think Kanter does a better job at times because he doesn't try to block shots, so he just uses his body to plant in front of the rim, but I think Favors is miles ahead of him on the defensive end and always will be.

I would consider doing Kanter + our 2 picks for Davis, if we could in turn flip some combination of Harris, Paul, and Jefferson for a proven wing player or top 10 PG.

For who? A wing that can't shoot? Or a big that would be lucky to be as good as our starters or as rife with potential as our backups? Drummond interests me on potential alone but he's been a straight-up dud.

If Barnes tears up the tournament, then I might revisit this idea. I don't see anything happening in the tournament that would make me change my mind on that idea. You have to know the player you want to do that, you have to know they won't fall to you, and you have to be able to guarantee them a spot in the rotation to give up so much.

Highlight defense is possibly the most overrated thing in the NBA.

Fundamentals matter. You defend with your feet first, guarding with your hands and playing for turnovers rarely means an effective defense in the NBA.

How 'bout this one? Say NOH gets the #3 and #13 picks, and we have #9 and #11. Would you trade our two picks and Millsap for NOH's two picks?
