Optimistic and pessimistic future

Optimistic future:

The western conference main rivals are old and done in near future. San Antonio is going to lose Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Matt Boner. Even they would begin rebuilding, their young core will need big time period to show their talents and it will not be easy with like just energy guys Dejaun Blair and Kawhi Leonard, the best is Parker's 30 points per matches will not be enough to beat anyone up.

The lakers will be the same like Spurs. No kobe and Gasol will make Jack Nicholson cry in front of cameras. The rest of the rosters are trash except Bynum and no one will be able to guarantee he will not get injured or even become like Greg Oden. Recovery will be so painfull due to the stress and media facts on them. The coaching will be criticized even more and year by year the fans will see new coaches over and over again.

The mavs will have no Dirk, Terry, Marrion, Kidd, vinsanity and odom. Cuban is going to invest all his money to the club to shortening the rebuilding process but he is going to make moves without thinking and there will be lots of the statements about refs, Stern, other team policies about the transfers and all and he will get punished every week.

The jazz will be seeing the young fellas' growing process and proud of their successes. Enes Kanter will be dominant post up player like Big Al but better rebounder and with better consistent midrange J. His tougness will be his reputation under the rim while on defense and people in the NBA will stop comparing him than just energy guys like Kawhi Leonard, Tristan Thompson etc. He will be among the top rebounders and become the player among the top field percantage.

Favors will be Amare stoudemire with defense and great duo partner with Kanter. He will be among the top blockers and stealers. Burks will be Manu of Spurs or Terry of Mavs and he will make deep impact from bench to the game and his name always will be mentioned among the 6th man. Gordon's name will mean versality and his basketball IQ and ball handling will make difference among his position.

The pessimistic future

Grizzles and Thunder will be even more powerful in the west and they will be two rivalry as all NBA fans know. Even Miami and Bulls will not be able to beat them up. The jazz young core will being mentioned as all potential but this potential wll never turn into reality. The fanz will be discussing Corbin about the rotation, veterans and new transfers.

Kanter will be limited on offense, streaky shooter and not get starter min. He will be quetching and his agent will demand trade by 1st telling it to the media. Burks will be ball hog, his statistics will be full of TO and just points. His defense will be suspecious and called Corey Maggette.
Due to the atmosphere, the new picks will be crushed under the pressure and jazz will be chasing the 8th spot and called mediocre.

Exactly my thought on Kanter's potential! But the pessimistic part makes my high expectations get choked in a vortex.

Spurs aren't done till Popavich is done. It's amazing to see them at #2 in a lockout season with 30 year old Parker, 400 year old Duncan, and an injured Manu.
Mavs are a team that buys championships, so they're not done.
Lakers are NBA's money load...they can't be done.

So those 3 teams are your future 1-5/6 spots.
OKC is a future behemoth for years to come unless contract situations happen where Harden, Westbrook, or Ibaka want more money.
Grizzlies...yeah I can see them being in the 1-5 spot in the future. Something just tells me that they'll always be a mediocre 6-8 spot. Denver too.
Golden State is a team that might surprise us in the future. The Kings...meh, they just cannot develop players. Houston is another 6-8 spot team. Suns need to start rebuilding even though Nash is doing great. It's just that the talent around him sucks. Clippers are dangerous as hell, but there's a serious coaching issue that might set them back a year. Clips might be your 1-5 spot too..

I like the Jazz's chances in the future because of the 4 young studs. This GSW pick is crucial for our future. We do need more talent and a solid role player would help. PG need is vital and I'm not sure how we get one.

I disagree with you about Spurs and Lakers. Even though the coaches are integral part of basketball, it is being played by the players so for showing their talents, the coaches must have good roster to handle. Without critical players, they will not achieve anything near their old success. Also, Grizzlies can be more dangerous in next years than you hope for. I do not even mention suns, golden state or sacramento for opponents in the near future.

With the Lakers, it's all about exploiting a broken NBA system and money. I'm surprised Spurs are at 2 right now, that's why I think they'll always be a playoff team until Pop goes away.

Being mediocre and getting eliminated in the 1st round is also pessimistic result for me for the future. So if that happens for spurs after their main pieces gone, they will welcome mediocrity like jazz too.

Burks has the ability to pass. I think it will be an evolving part of his game once he starts learning the veteran tricks. I am much more in the optimistic group.

I agree on Memphis and OKC being the other main teams in the West. I just think it will be Utah, Memphis and OKC.

Popovich is the best coach in the NBA, but once Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker are done, it's not going to be that easy for San Antonio to reload when compared to the Mavs or Lakers. Both of those teams will buy their way back into contention almost right away. Perfect example: D-Will will most likely be playing for 1 of those 2 teams come next year. It's not going to take them long.

With that being said, I think Utah only trails OKC in regards to how good they are set up for the future. I don't think Memphis has the core that Utah has, so I put the Jazz ahead of the Grizz.

I was recently in San Antonio. The city's a dump. Aside from the River Walk and the area just off the Alamo, the city is ugly and just plain yech. I was very disappointed. Salt Lake is a much nicer city than San Antonio (its idiosyncratic culture aside) in my opinion. I don't see San Antonio, the city, being a place where free agents will queue up to play.
