CNN Commentator Gets Blasted Over Ann Romney Comments

https://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.c...t-defends-ann-romney-comments-amid-firestorm/

Interesting read (to me at least).

I see what the CNN commentator was talking about. Yes stay at home moms are hard working women. She meant going out and having a job. The reaction is symbolic of the crap that is wrong with Washington.

I also think that Romney (and his camp) has no choice but to come out swinging in his wifes defense.

Symbolic in what sense? Sincere question.

I see it as yet another example of making campaign/political issues out of inanities. Now, if certain reports are to be believed, the Romney camp is trying to claim Rosen is an Obama surrogate, while the Obama camp now has to come out and disavow Rosen and her comments, just in case some tries to do what the Romney camp appears to be trying to do. Anything anyone says, no matter how trivial or innocent or no matter what context, is made into some significant event that different camps try to use for political gain. If this is what you see as wrong with Washington, I'm in full agreement.

What's perhaps most discouraging in all of this is that some people actually attach weighty import to such trivial things. And it is discouraging that politicians just can't help themselves to try to make it far more important than it really is.

It was a dumb thing to say, if she meant it that way, and even if she didn't, she might be blamed for not realizing how it might be taken.

Saw your post when I was logged out Jimmy.

Symbolic was a poor word choice. Perhaps "another example" would be better.

Historically, CNN is as biased towards Democrats as Fox News is towards Republicans.

Of course they are but all the outrage is still fake. I am just tired of the fakeness and lies from politicians.

I think the outrage at the phrase "she hasn't worked a day in her life" is misplaced. Yes, it's a poor choice of words, but she was clearly talking about gainful employment.

What I think people SHOULD be outraged at, is the point behind the statement. Rosen was implying that because Ann Romney is a stay-at-home mom, she doesn't deserve to have any say in economic issues. And that's a load of crap. Let's also stop stay-at-home moms from voting too, don't you think?

I've found CNN to be a fairly balance broadcast.

It's a stupid point to make anyway. Women hold a lot of control over the economy by managing household affairs. It is their consumption choices that drive the economy. Producers and retailers figured this out years after they probably should have. Maybe Rosen will too.

I think that is a fair point about where the anger should be placed. I had not thought about that yet. Also I think asking a woman would be acceptable for wanting to know womens concerns.

@ Franklin apart from some of their commentators I would say that CNN is the most balanced and most fair.

I agree with franklin that CNN is pretty balanced. Not perfectly balanced, they do lean left, but nothing at all like Fox News, which makes it a point to represent conservative views.

I watch a lot of both stations. But when I want good news coverage I listen to NPR, the least biased source of news imho.

I don't watch the Clinton News Network or any of them really anymore. They are all just pushing some agenda. Anyway, I can see why the Romney camp would be delighted with this turn of events. He isn't polling well as he would like with women and this type of situation can be used to help himself out. Anyway, this all goes back to the President and the eventual GOP Nominee trying to either maintain their current standing with women(the President) or gain support a lot more support from women(Romney).

...I think asking a woman would be acceptable for wanting to know womens concerns.

I suspect that Ann Romney has a better take on women's concerns than a lot of other people. She has been on the campaign trail with Mitt for over a year now and has likely spoken with thousands of women across the country. I think she has a pretty good idea of what concerns many women.
