What's new

Well Game 1 coaching fail for Ty

Ty did fine. The Spurs offense is a thing of beauty and you really just have to hope they miss. Locke's one decent point was they should go under on Parker. I would expect to see that change. And personally, I don't want Howard starting. I don't expect to see that change. Otherwise, what we really need is for a few more outside shots to fall which isn't on Ty.

Howard playing 1 min is to much. This bs of Howards playoff experience meaning anything is rediculous. I don't care if you have 1 or 100 playoff games under your belt. If you suck you shouldn't play regardless of how many playoff games you have under your belt. And right now Howard sucks.

The big 3 did terrible today. That is when they extended their lead over us, right?

I think it was like -2 with the big 3. That doesn't mean you abandon it, which you're not implying, I assume. It didn't dominate like in other games, but Corbin has to use the lineups at the right time. I also don't think it's just the big 3; I think it has to do with Hayward and Harris, who sucked today. This line-up should start the game because the Red Rocket does not start, and Jackson hit some big shots, which I'm betting will not happen again. I want to see more minutes with this lineup over the series before writing it off.

Only 16 minutes, but do the Jazz really need to handicap themselves for a third of the game on the road against one of the best teams in the NBA?

Exactly! He made no meaningful contribution to the team whatsoever! Whatever playoff experience he had didn't show through that's for sure! Is he going to be with the Jazz next year? I doubt it. So why not give someone else some playoff experience if we are going to go down in flames! He doesn't seem like a "Jazz" type player....he's always thinking shoot first, pass second or only when absolutely necessary!

I second that emotion!

I thought Enes Kanter was completely lost today. He had no idea when to rotate, and once when he recognized that he needed to rotate he did not know where to rotate too. I also think Corbin was caught off guard by the Spurs switching there starting lineup by putting Diaw in. His length did bother Milsap. On the flip side, Jackson had a hard time with Milsap in the post. I would rather see Corbin adjust his starting lineup and put Milsap at the three.

We had no answer for Ginobli. He was an X Factor for them, as he always is. I live in San Antonio and I go to a lot of their games, and as much as I hate him he is a lot of fun to watch in person.

I think for the second unit I would bring in Burks, Tinsley and Carrol. Maybe run Howard at the 4 for a short stint and let him match up against Bonner. Then just tell that lineup to hustle and run.

Some good stuff will come out of this series, mainly in that our team is getting a first hand look at what sharing, moving and trusting each other really looks like.

While we need a passing point guard (Marshall), I dont see how he would be any better at D then Harris. Harris got burned almost every play leading to open 3's, dunks and layups from Parker himself.

....I think you mean how he could do any WORSE than Harris on defense! If Harris doesn't try and deny Parker the ball, he might as well not even play any defense at all. Parker was going around him like he was standing still. I couldn't believe Parker only had 28 points.....it seemed like 40 to me!

Howard playing coming off an injury seems like a no-brainer to me. I do believe that he can be useful in the right situation. That situation is never going to be his first several games coming off an injury. I want to believe Corbin is a good coach, but I thought this was painfully obvious, and he didn't need to play him at all to know that. If I ran the zoo, Howard gets minutes next year if KOC decides to bring him back.

Not really seeing where Corbin drastically ****ed up today. Starting Howard is questionable, but I understand the reasoning behind it. It was a gamble, and didn't pay off. Will he continue to roll the dice?

The way I see it, there were two major problems with Corbin's lineups today.

1) Prior to the last 5 or so minutes of the 4th quarter, they had played the big lineup for about 2 minutes. That lineup was, without question, the best and most effective lineup the Jazz put on the floor during the most important stretch of the season and the stretch when they played their best basketball. When you get in the playoffs, it's do or die - you go to the well more often, not less often. That lineup should be playing at least 24 minutes a game.

2) Demarre Carroll. I like Carroll, I think he tries hard and can do some good things. That said, this is a guy who was unwanted by every team in the NBA for the first half of the season. Even Tyrone Corbin wouldn't let Carroll see the light of day until he was forced to play him when 3 of the team's wings went down with injury. How in the hell does that guy play 22 meaningful minutes in a playoff game? That can't happen. If Roger and Howard are that bad, even more reason to play the big lineup early and often.

Bottom line here is the only chance the Jazz have, if any, to make this competitive is to play the big lineup as often as possible. And Harris can't play like he did. I'd say that would be the third factor that caused the Jazz to never really be in this game. Nothing Corbin can do about that.

none of them can defend Parker. Rondo on the other hand could.

swap rondo for harris and we'd have the same ****.
defending parker isnt on harris, it's on team defense screening switching etc.
we dont need a pg we need a pick and roll defensive scheme

Lol Rondo is probably the one PG that could...he's on the All NBA Defensive team for a reason.
Harris is as good as they come. This is a team defensive problem. We need to force baseline and do a good job of it.
