Formula to Beat Spurs

This is how the Jazz can beat the Spurs. Al Jefferson cannot play. His defense basically gives the opposing team a bucket every time down the floor. Use Favors, Hayward, Burks, and Tinsley to fastbreak the living poop out of them. Spurs have very few, if any, explosive athletes on their team. Memphis exposed that last year. They simply physically overwhelmed them on the defensive end of the floor. The Jazz have the potential to do the same, but cannot do that with Al Jefferson on the floor. Favors, Hayward, and even Burks are better athletes than anyone on the Spurs. They need to use this to their advantage.
Spurs are overrated, they will be exposed eventually like they were last year. They lack athletic ability.

Thoughts?

Even though I know I'm right and no one will change my mind.

Jazz best hope is to run. Jefferson isn't a guy that runs.

I tend to agree, we might have a better shot just benching Jefferson. But, I'd prefer to run that 3 bigs lineup extensively first to see if that works.

I think I'll wait till the end of game 2 to weigh in.

I will say there were some positives to be seen in a game in which the Jazz were not the hardest playing team on the floor.

When it's time to regroup and head into the home games I'll get serious.

My formula to beat the Spurs?

Tonya Harding.

(Complete joke. I am in no calling for/wishing injury on any of them)

People honestly think we have a better shot at beating the Spurs by flat out benching Al? Seriously?

Bring in Karl Malone to teach these guys how to play hard, throw elbows, and not make friends with the enemy.

I don't disagree, but what post or poster are you responding to .. or was this just a random thought?

I guess the original post. He says Big Al doesn't run, which is true, but that doesn't mean the rest of the team can't run. The team still needs a viable halfcourt option when running fails.

I may be mistaken, but doesn't Memphis have two of the fattest front-players in the league, neither of whom run on the fast break (Randolph and Gasol)? I understand that getting Al out of the game improves defense, but I still don't think it is going to improve it enough to where we are shutting down the Spurs more than it will hurt our offense in the long run.

It's perplexing mainly because the Spurs simply are a better team and have a better coach. I don't agree with anyone that suggests the key to winning is to sit Al, but there's no question he's a liability BOTH on the defensive end AND how the offense seems to stagnate when he's on the floor. Question is, is that Al's fault or Ty's fault? What plays are being called? If everyone on the team knows that when Al's in the game his number is called .. that explains everything. I see all this as slightly more a coaching problem than a personnel issue. We are outmatched, but we have enough talent to hang every game, imo.

4(jazz score > spurs score)=jazz win

Umm yes, are you serious?... The Jazz are a far better overall team without him. People need to realize this.

I just think the whole team just needed to get Game 1 out of their system. It was pretty obvious who had the experience and who didn't. We got a little panicky on offense and a little too safe on defense. But if the Harris/Hayward/Howard trio can make a few outside shots early, that would be a big help.
