What's new

Guys we should take a look at over the summer

Not a complete idea so keep that in mind but here goes.

Do not resign Miles or Howard. Trade out Harris, Watson, Bell and Big Al.

Go after Steve Nash, Brandon Rush and James Harden. Draft Marshall.

Resign Tinsley, Carroll and Evans.

That gives us: Favors, Millsap, Kanter, Evans, Hayward, Rush, Tinsley, Nash, Marshall, Harden, Burks

Getting a 3rd string C/PF and another SF are needed. Thoughts?

I like the way you think. I would try to do the same but I would draft Lillard. The only problem with the way you and I think is that its dreaming and not reality. When you trade players you usually pick up players of equal value. So when we trade harris, Watson, Bell and Big Al we end up with other players that cost us the same, leaving no room for Nash or Harden. You'd have to trade big Al and Harris to a team way under the cap or amnesty one of them to be able to afford Nash or Harden. Moreover, we don't have a draft pick at all in this draft as of right now.

Assuming a team way under the cap picked up Al and Harris, it would take a max offer to pry Harden away from OKC and at least 10 if not 12 million to get Nash from Phoenix. Reality sucks.

Can I insert James fredette into the conversation. He could come in play 10 min shoot 2 3 pt shots hit 33% of them and the next 3 yrs Greg miller makes a killing.

I think everyone wants to avoid that scenario at all cost. I can only imagine the crowd chanting "Jimmer" as he sits on the bench every game.

PG's--Tinsley...no one else...none of these guys are difference makers imo...possibly Lowry at the right price.

SG's--None...between Hayward and Burks, it just doesn't make sense to give a 2 a long term deal imo, thus also presumably giving him major minutes at the 2.

SF's--Nic Batum, Brandon Rush...one or the other.

PF's--Evans but no one else. We have Millsap, Favors, Kanter, Jefferson (for now) and if we re-sign him, Evans at times who can play the four. I don't want a pure 4. A stretch 4 who can play some 3 and I may listen but it just doesn't seem to make sense with our logjam.

C's--Greg Stiemsma, Hamed Haddadi, Joel Pryzbilla, Hasheem Thabeet, Greg Oden, Daniel Orton...I think any other obviously better 5 FA's can pretty much complain about not getting time ahead of Kanter. These six likely wouldn't bitch and moan and could add value in different ways, some with a lot of upside. I really like Stiemsma and think he'd be a great 4th big if we are able to trade Jefferson.

I'd go after re-signing Tinsley and Evans since they're cheap, great team guys, and we know what we get there. I'd also make a strong push for Stiemsma though it may take more than we're willing to offer for a 4th big. Dude is good. I'd love to go after Batum with 5 years, 50M or thereabouts. He's as elite defender as you get, is long, and can shoot from the perimeter, three things we could use. Is that overpaying? Likely. Can Portland match? Yes. If they do, let them. If not, and we get him, I like the idea of Batum-Favors as the beginning of elite defense here. I see no chance in hell of us getting Harden like some people here so I wouldn't hold out for that hope.

If we can trade Jefferson, this is what we'd have. The one problem I see is too much talent and depth, especially with Burks and Crowder fighting over time.

Marshall-Tinsley-Watson
Hayward-Burks-Bell
Batum-Crowder
Millsap-Kanter-Evans
Favors-Stiemsma

That's not bad. We have a lot of great options if we can trade Jefferson in a salary-cutting move. But none of these speculations are worth **** if we can't. So, the real question is.... what are those possible deals? What are your ideas?

Well, for starters, we'd have to trade Harris as well to have that projected core.
