What's new

Locke tweeted Favors is starting tonight.

He missed a lot of shots last game that he needs to convert on. I can just see the faith Corbin has in favors dropping after he misses those shots. But big al gets a free pass with no matter what performance....

100% correct. How can Favors and all the young players for that matter be benched for a week (I'm exaggerating, do not jump down my throat) for taking 1 bad shot, while Jefferson gets a free pass for never playing any defense (hardly exaggerating there)? Favors wouldn't see a second of playing time if he was like Al.

This will work if Harris and Hayward hit their shots. The Spurs have packed the paint all series because the alternative is quite appealing: let the Jazz beat you with perimeter shooting. If our guards hit their open shots and Al actually puts forth some effort, then we win. Otherwise we have the NBA draft order announcement (and hopefully the draft), summer leagues, summer trades (goodbye Al), training camp, preseason, opening of the 2012-2013 NBA season.

Just a bail out. He'll say he should have started him sooner, say the future is bright, blah blah blah.

Corbin you've been way too inconsistent with the young guns for the most part.

This. How can Burks, Favors, Kanter, etc take Corbin seriously? The only lessons he has taught the young guys is whine and you will get playing time and don't play defense and you will get shots. Corbin was absolutely TERRIBLE this year. That being said, he slowly, slowly, freaking slowly starts to get it. I would tell him if I was KOC, "Look, I am going to try to move Al. You had better be a 5 seed or your job is gone."

We lost twice to Charlotte, and we should have won the 4 OT game. That we are an 8th seed is a sign that Corbin failed this year.

p.s. and don't give me the "well, you didn't think they would make the playoffs before the year began" crap. Who cares what I thought before the year began. We found out that this team is talented enough to be a 5-6 seed. Their coach failed them and they ended up an 8th seed. That is all that matters.

Almost all knowledgeable bettors would strongly disagree with you.

Yep, I don't see how anybody thinks minus Corbin the Jazz are somehow a contender or even make a run in the playoffs. I or don't think anybody is saying Corbin is perfect or great but he is a young learning HC that is learning and growing with this team IMO so just like Burks, Favors, Hayward or Kanter get a pass or wiggle room for a growing curve I give the same to Corbin.

When did we lose to Charlotte twice? We played them once this season and won.

This is the same argument made at the beginning of the season. Slowly but surely we saw what Tyrone Corbin saw. Kanter and Burks haven't been good all year. Both had their moments but neither deserved much more playing time. Maybe Burks but only because Raja/Chuck were the alternates. Now it's the end of the season and we've forgotten everything already. Back to Corbin bashing.

That's one way to look at it, but if he thought more about the future and developing these guys, they might be further along now. It's pretty evident now that Favors should've gotten more minutes much earlier in the season, as most everyone here was advocating. Burks certainly couldn't have been any worse than Bell or Howard in the early going and this also could've furthered his development. Kanter seems about right, though there were times when Al was playing poorly that he couldn've gotten some extra minutes.

I have never said Burks or Kanter should have received more minutes. I actually think those two were feather's in Corbin's cap. He did a good job with them. They aren't the problem. The problem was in the third overtime, Jefferson not even running and leaving Favors on the bench. The problem was countless times having the Jazz up 8 in the fourth with 5 mins to go, and Corbin taking Favors out for Jefferson and we lose by 3. The problem is knowing the big three work good together LAST YEAR, but not going back to it until the last quarter of the season. The problem is playing Watson and Bell after they complained about PT, not waiting until they earned PT.

Corbin made too many mistakes that cost this team games.
