Pau Gasol Trade - Steve Nash Implications

If we got the 8th pick would you include it for Gasol, taking out the 2013 1st rounder?

8th pick, Harris, and Jefferson for Gasol. I think the Lakers would have to heavily consider that as they could get Perry Jones, Terrance Jones, or Jared Sullinger all of which would fit nicely next to Bynum.

I don't see the Lakers wanting a draft pick.....
The Laker's aren't a developmental team, they're more of a team that takes the superstar your team develops. (IE: Harden, Howard, etc)

I probably wouldn't add AK. Let Burks and Hayward get minutes, also bring in a 3pt shooter over AK. Unless AK wants to come in at 9 million for 3 years.

I think getting Gasol and Nash is a bold enough move that you'd have to consider championship aspirations immediately. If you're going to have those aspirations, I think that despite his shortcomings AK does much more for you than Burks at this point of his career. That would be the best passing team outside of San Antonio, with great length and ranginess. And wouldn't this be the sort of team we'd always wanted to see AK on?

I don't have a problem looking for a 3 pt shooter, but Nash goes a long way by himself in that regard.

Noooooooooooooooo....

Give me Lillard/Marshall and we've got a young/talented/huge-potential team set for the next 5 years.

I understand the reason for adding AK, but let's not forget who AK is. He is constantly injured, suffers when he isn't a focal point of the offense, is way past his athletic prime which was a big part of his defense, and isn't a good shooter. I'd be interested, but I wouldn't go over 3 years 10 million dollars. I think he wants more than that.

c'mon nothing is a sure-thing.

Gasol could injure his knee in his 1st game as a Jazz man. It's possible.

I'll take the odds that Gasol is still really good at basketball and stays healthy as he has done for the majority of his career over the odds of a PG who comes from a small school, or a PG who has little offensive game and athletic ability, panning out into NBA starters.

You are right anything could happen, but it's still hard to turn down. Also, I'm not entirely sure I would do it with the 8th pick involved, just throwing it out there.

I have no desire to pick up Gasol, even if it means ridding ourselves of Jefferdad. Offload him to the Cavs/Rockets, please.

If you throw in the 8th pick, our pick next year and Harris - and Nash decides not to sign with us.

Then, who - might I ask - would you start at PG? Start Watson and sign Price?!?!

The pick next year would be taken back if the 8th pick was involved, I stated that.

As for Nash not signing, I'm not sure. Obviously you talk to him before all of this goes down and ask him if he would sign. You just don't do it on a whim, you make sure he is down with the plan.

Yes, injuries and $ are a problem. But this potential team passes well enough that I think AK would feel plenty engaged. We talk on these forums so often about the Jazz not swinging for the fences. I think adding AK to this potential team would be a swing for the fences.

D.J Augistin is a RFA and with Kemba Walker, there isn't too much incentive for the Bobcats to match.

The teams that had Dwill-Boozer-Okur-AK-Brewer were also great passing teams and we saw how "engaged" he was.

How do you do this? This is against league rules, isn't it?

That was great passing based on a two-man game. I'm presuming adding Gasol-Nash wouldn't produce the two-man game that Deron and Boozer had. Of course I might be wrong.

I think I've voiced my opinion on this before, but if you can get Gasol for Al + whatever, then you have to do it.
