So did the guy find this dude molesting his daughter, then beat him to death, or did he find out about it later and then beat the guy to death?

From the story it sounds like he came back inside his house while he was having a social gathering in his back yard, where he has some horses, and this guy (who was part of the group that was in the back yard) was in his 4yo daughters room molesting her.

That's my take also. The debate would was deadly force absolutely necessary to stop the crime?
Sympathy is definitely not going to be problem for the Dad. I bet he walks.
That's not the standard. Deadly force doesn't have to be the only way to stop the crime for deadly force to be justified. For instance, I might be able to physically stop a person 50lbs lighter than myself by just grabbing them. Then again, they are molesting a child and might take extreme measures not to let me catch them. I don't have to take any chances. I can use deadly force to STOP them from molesting the child. Again, deadly force can be used to stop someone from molesting a child. So no matter how easy it would be to use another method, if someone is in the act of molesting a child I can fire a gun at them, hit them with a bat in the head, stab them in the guts, or punch them with all my might in their head. All deadly force is used to stop the threat a person poses to others. It is not used to kill them, it is used to stop them.
Did the molester have any kind of weapon on him at the time? Seems like that would make it easier to justify. Not that I like it, but the dad is probably looking at some jail time.
Keep this to yourself. Don't ever tell your kids, your wife, anybody that would be connected to you or your daughters. You'd be amazed at what a child will swallow down and live with just to keep their daddy out of jail/prison.

I would never venture into what I might do if I caught one of these dirtbags immediately after-the-fact. I know I would never lose my cool or talk about dragging someone into the darkest part of the woods for five days. I'm not a psycho and would do the right thing, ya know, before coming to my senses and definitely not after.
Isn't it awesome how disturbing/intriguing a protective father can be? I might have to move to the anti-Canada just for the legal protections offered to fathers who aren't the near protectors of rapists like them backwood Kenticky foke.
When my wife and I were engaged, this conversation came up. I told her that if my kid was ever molested, I'd go to prison for a VERY, VERY long time. She said "Good. I would expect that from the father of my kids." She willing and able to take on that responsibility. And my kids know that I will do whatever is necessary to protect them.
I think the sticking point for this father will be that the guy was probably unconscious long before he died. At that point in time it goes from stopping the act and protecting his daughter to being excessive force. Again, I don't blame the guy and would probably do the same thing.
