Portland Signs RFA Hibbert

I'm really starting to hate this team.....

their potential starting 5 is scary

PG- Lillard
SG- Matthews
SF- Batum
PF- Aldridge
C- Hibbert

Quick, KOC should be on the phone RIGHT NOW to Indiana offering them Jefferson.
Pacers should let Hibbert go to Portland. He's not a MAX player.
But the Blazers would have a "big 3" of Hibbert, Aldridge and Matthews with Lillard as their point. And they might just match an offer for Batum since Allen has boatloads of $ and wants a championship, regardless of how much luxury tax he'll have to pay.

For what?

He's restricted, and I don't think he can even sign an offer sheet until 7/11. And general NBA.

This is true, but agreements can be made (although they do frequently change - remember when Hedo agreed to sign with POR, then ended up signing with TOR?)

Link to where Hibbert signed the deal.....

Well, technically he hasn't signed the offer sheet. But why would he until his agent sees if Indiana will beat the offer? Indiana could offer him more years and more money with an extension, IINM. But once he signs the offer sheet, that becomes his deal. So I'm sure he and his agent are talking to the Pacers right now. If Indiana declines, he'll officially sign the offer sheet and then Indiana would have up to 3 days to match.

This. If Hibbert is gone, the only deal we'd be able to do is Jefferson for Granger... which I'm all for, but Indiana wouldn't do it. Utah would have to throw the Golden State pick in there along with another future first IMO.

Why would Indiana beat the offer when they could just let Hibbert sign the offer sheet and then match it?

If he ends up signing with Portland, they'll likely spell him with 40+ minute games on the regular, leading him to injury after injury. Their medical staff doesn't have a clue (or so it would seem).
