INSIDER- Jazz off season Grade

I think Marvin Williams will shock people. I think he and Gordon Hayward are why you get rid of Al NOW. With Favors starting, Marvin and Mo, and improvement from Hayward and Burks, we could EASILY cover Al's production, with improved defense and shooting. Think of how much easier Favor's development will be with those shooters. Think of how much Millsap's height is mitigated with good outside shooting.

Ive been told its all good as long as I dont put the whole article up. Thanks for moderating me though.

On the old board, I posted two paragraphs of a Hollinger insider article and those two paragraphs earned me a warning (now infraction). Be careful about posting insider stuff.

Yep. I could obviously be wrong here but I seem to remember one paragraph being okay but nothing more than that. This is more than that.

UTAH JAZZ
Key additions: Mo Williams (trade), Marvin Williams (trade), Jeremy Evans (re-sign), Kevin Murphy (draft)

Key subtractions: Devin Harris

The Jazz continue to quietly rebuild. They shocked just about everyone when they made the playoffs this past season and did a few things this summer to make sure they stayed in contention for a seventh or eighth seed in the West.

Williams should be a significant upgrade over Harris. He's a better shooter, he plays the pick-and-roll much better than Harris and his shooting stroke and defensive abilities give Utah some much-needed depth at small forward.
Wait, I thought most on this board are saying Mo for Devin is a wash at best.

I expect the Jazz to be contending for more than a 7th or 8th seed. Maybe we finish that low, but the season will be a waste if we're not close to the 4th/5th seed for most of the year. The big rotation will be stronger. Marvin, Gordon, Burks >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Howard, CJ, Raja and Hayward. And the veteran leadership of Mo >>> Harris, even if their stats cancel each other out.

I want to see the Jazz fighting for 4-6 seeding and be a tough out or make it to the second round. Time to make another step Utah. Let's do this!

Well, if Griffin's seriously hurt and/or out for the year, I could see us fighting for a seed as high as the 3...only the Lakers and OKC are clearly better than us at this point imo.

All that is let for KOC to do is sign some veteran retread to take away minutes from one of our young guns in order to keep the tradition alive. I am just kidding. I think KOC has done a pretty good job. I love the 47th pick. Just think if Kevin Murphy becomes a contributor. That would make it 3 #47s that have contributed to the Jazz success.

As far as the playoffs go, I hope the Jazz are in the mix for a higher seed but you have to look at how the other teams have improved. The reason teams need to tweak their rosters is because relying only on internal improvement isn't enough.

Overall I think KOC has done a good job managing the roster and financials, he has a big decision deciding which player to keep Millsap or AJ . He needs to find an elite PG and probably another shooter. I like the depth of the team and feel that the Jazz have some assets and financial flexibility for the 2013 FA market.

No mention of the eternal Spurs?

Griffin has a torn meniscus but should be ready to go by training camp.

This type of thing is Jason's judgment call (with sometimes advice by kicky), and obviously will depend on how long the article is. Two paragraphs out of a 20 paragraph article would be just fine with me, personally. Two paragraphs out of a 3 paragraph article, probably not.

In this case, if the article had a section like that on each team in the league and he just quoted 1/30 of the article to post the Jazz-related info, I think it would be OK. But again, it's Jason's call. So I guess YB's advice is good--be careful about posting insider stuff. In a worst-case scenario Kicky says it's got the potential to get our site shut down, that's why we're not always tolerant and sometimes err on the side of being too strict.

And to clarify, this is 1/30 and excludes the intro as well. I've posted these excerpts for years and have been warned only the first time as I put the full article out. At that time I was told to keep the insider posts very brief which I have done. I am mindful of any legal issues that could arise and try to make sure to keep it to small amounts of info only related to the Jazz. Anways perhaps the spacing had some believe this was some huge article. Spacing has been removed. Jebus.

You, Verlin, have proven to be the epitome of legal concern for this site. Thank you. Wish more were not so cavalier.
