No BYU-Utah Rivalry Football Games in 2014 or 2015

For the record. I hope BYU does get into a big conference and/or is able to put together some strong schedules as an independent. I'd love to have Saturdays where the U hosts USC and BYU is hosting OU or Texas.

I also think that no matter what BYU/UTAH should be an annual tradition.

I'm a fan of neither but can easily agree with that.

Still waiting for somebody to post an article showing that BYU could have joined one of these conferences decades ago but chose not to. After all, thats what was implied.
You can read into whatever you like and I'd expect nothing less of someone who obviously views the world through rose-colored glasses.

But it's a fact that if BYU would've been willing to make some concessions that they could've gone to a big conference decades ago.

I know that kills you. I know you feel that it slights your beloved Utes somehow. But in reality it doesn't. That is no slight on the Pac10/Utah or BYU. But you won't see that. You've got to put in your two cents on everything and make sure BYU looks as bad as possible and Utah looks as good as possible. No problem this is who you are.

I've love for them to stay independent but Bronco wants access to the Championship game and the easiest path there is within a big conference.

What kind of concessions could they have made do you think?

Sunday play. And I don't think it was that big a deal (as was said in the article). I think it was more about the Pac10 being bigger than BYU (which they were and are). Why should a conference cowtow to a single college (maybe Nortre Dame)?

My guess is it went something like this:

Pac10: Hey, BYU, we are interested but you need to give a little for this to happen.
BYU: Nope.
Pac10. GFY then.

Not suprising. When you get backed into a corner thanks to your own doing, you deflect and attack the poster instead of staying on topic. You implied BYU had opportunities to join a big conference decades ago. Im just asking for actual evidence. The 1 article you've posted gave speculation that some schools had interest in adding BYU to the PAC, but the overall consensus was that BYU would never get in. So I ask again: Where are these "decades" worth of opportunities? Not really interested in arguing with you any further. Either supply something to back up your claim, or for the love of god, please stop typing.

Thanks in advance.

That article pretty much torched your argument and backed Chad's and Jazzman12's. It definitely does not show that BYU could have been in the PAC if they wanted to. They were not invited. They may have had talks but it does not say that they could have been in.

Like I said, rose-colored glasses. Keep on hatin, Son. I love that it kills you anytime there is even a chance of BYU looking good and that you spend so much energy trying to make them look bad. That's sad and miserable but entertaining from my end.

Keep typing. Thanks in advance.

As usual, you honks are going to read into what you want. The truth is the truth. Sorry 3rd placers.

If this is already posted, my bad -- but it sums it up pretty well. https://www.deseretnews.com/article...eir-culture-in-suspending-rivalry.html?pg=all

This article is P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C. Seriously. Who do you blow for your rep points, because you just lost all credibility believing something like this. We have got to meet up, because I have some magic juice to sell you. Ha ha. I can't believe you posted this.

First comparing all this to COMMUNISM. Next, BYU wouldn't play on Sunday, so they didn't get into the PAC-12? LOL. If you believe this, you skipped past the Jeff Foxworthy "you might be..." and jumped straight to "Here's your sign."

First, name one thing BYU football has done this CENTURY. Beating a crappy Oklahoma team? That's about it. Good for you. Look at Utah:

Two BCS games
The best head coach in football (Urban)
A top 5 coach in football (Whitt)
Assistant coaches that have become head coaches (Chow, Mullen, Sanford) plus multiple coaches that have risen up the ranks.
The NUMBER ONE overall pick in the NFL draft
Only eight teams have more BCS wins than Utah in the country
etc, etc, etc

"BYU has the better overall program." This is a joke. 7 out of 10, 3 out of 4, 54-10. No one cares about men's volleyball. Sorry. Or jumping over hurdles into water. People only care about football, and BYU plays 2-3 real teams a year, and usually loses to all of them. You think Utah struggled last year in the PAC-12? What would BYU have done? LOL.

Like I have said before, cougar fan, you have no ground to stand on (when your team's accomplishments are older than your current players, they aren't accomplishments anymore), you are a jerk to everyone you talk to (see Rocky Long's reactions to BYU, SDSU, Bronco refusing to play along in traditions decades old, BYU fan talking out his *** when he says that if Riley played last year, BYU would have won, etc, etc, etc), and YOU SUCK AT FOOTBALL. You struggle against Utah State, a 7-6 WAC team. You go to the Big 12 and give them demands and then cry bigotry when they kick you to the curb. YOU ARE PATHETIC.

p.s. ND doesn't like you. You are their patsy they fit in between B1G schools. Congrats. They view you the same way USC view SJSU.

So, 100+ years of tradition and dedication to those ideals goes right out the window simply because you're ashamed that your team sold out? Why, I can't believe that you would sink this low. Truly saddening.

100 years of tradition? You mean the fact that we destroy you in this rivalry, and other than a good coach, your record against us is pathetic? 55-34, buddy. 7 of the last 10. Three of the last four. It seems like things are settling back into what has happened over the majority of that 100 year rivalry.
