No BYU-Utah Rivalry Football Games in 2014 or 2015

Out of curiosity, what teams should've replaced BYU in 1984? I'd say Florida and Washington are the only ones that merit consideration (given they were 1-loss teams plus a tie for Florida). However, screw Florida because of 100+ violations for which they were on probation for (ie they were cheating at the time or caught cheating or whatever). I like Washington (even though they didn't even win their conference title) especially because they beat OKC. I think they were the team with the best chance to beat BYU. However, screw them because they turned down #1-ranked BYU's offer to settle it on the field. Sackless money-chasing and it burned them as it should have.

I'm sure you could argue others but I'm not a big fan of crowning 2-loss national champs.

After finishing the 1984 season 13-0, BYU was ranked number one by the Associated Press, United Press International (coaches' poll), Sports Illustrated, CNN-USA Today, and the Football Writers of America. Why don't you write a letter of protest to those guys and maybe they'll change their minds.

2 isolated instances is not decades. We can say that decades ago 2 conferences were mildly curious.

See my post above. Washington would have wiped the floor with you. They blew out the #2 team in the country in their Bowl game. Did you forget that BYU barely, I mean BARELY won against a 6-5 Michigan team with their 4th string QB? It took a fourth quarter comeback for BYU in that game.

Kinda interesting how much Ute fans like to bash that Michigan team but yet you open and close your argument with it. And your other argument is them beating #2 OKC (who was a quality team). But they passed up a chance to beat the #1 ranked team and settle it all on the field. That is totally sackless and no one deserves a title when they turn down that opportunity.

Personally, I love Conan's posts. It's hilarious to see so many Utah fans take him so seriously. Keep in mind the #2-ranked Huskies refused to play them. And also BYU was riding a huge winning streak from the previous season. I think it was a cumulative championship. Once you're #1 you gotta be beat to lose it for the most times. BYU got there quick and hung on. The team that could've knocked them out took the coward's way out.
