I know it must be painful for Joe Pa's family to see their husband and father go down in flames like this. I really do believe he spent his life building up Penn St.
Unfortunately, none of that even comes close to the damage he caused by NOT making the elimination and prosecution of that Cancer, Sandusky, his #1 priority. Had Joe Pa acted like a leader, this whole ugly debacle would have been avoided. I mean, yes, Sandusky's story would have come out... Ugly. Yes, it would have hurt Penn St and that charity a bit. But at least it would have showed that Joe Pa really was a leader. That he heard something horrible and did something about it... Even if it was one of his good friends and former assistants who had done it. But the focus would have been on Sandusky and his ugliness and Joe Pa's leadership in attacking that ugliness. Instead, we see the opposite. No one talks about Sandusky. Everyone talks about Joe Pa's cowardice, the school covering it up, and the raping to continue...
By Joe's lack of action/inadequate action, his name will be forever remembered for this ugly story. How many other boys were raped because of Joe? To me, that destroys a lifetime of Football.
I think most would agree with me by this country's response to the tearing down of the statue.
