CJ Miles Close to Signing With Lakers

for what it's worth, i have heard the same thing about CJ being a frequenter of late evening entertainment establishments and/or enjoying the company of many a young utah lass... and i'm not even the clubbing type or part of that scene.

as far as what the lakers see in him, i'll go back to this point, which was made statistically by truehoop a few months ago but i can't find the link: even inefficient mid-range shooters can have a positive impact on the team's overall efficiency while they're on the floor. CJ might be a career 42% shooter, but you still have to guard him, and that creates space for kobe, pau, bynum.

That's an interesting point. I never heard before.

Put it this way. Who are you going to guard? The guy who never looks to shoot unless the shot clock is running down(Bell)? Or the guy who shoots a lower % but is a threat to throw it up at anytime and can occasionally catch fire and light you up(CJ/Howard)? neither is an ideal player for your team but not being willing to shoot unless your either so wide open you feel stupid not shooting or only shooting at the end of a shot clock is much easier and less important to guard. Even if they do shoot a better overall %.

I agree that Bell and Miles would be guarded differently by other teams, but I wonder how the Jazz plan how to defend 42% shooters on the other team.

i'll look for the article. it was really quite interesting, and i'm fairly sure it mentioned CJ as an example of a below-average shooter whose team actually plays more efficient offensive ball while he's out there.

I would think even Laker fans wouldn't expect much from CJ. I know they can be a bit delusional, but still.
