Iran In Syria

oh yeah... I took one look at the title and went no where near it. I'll check it out tonight.

Are you really leaving?

See the link. I promise you that its work-safe. It'll answer the question you postulated here.

Hey addictionary!! Hows my honeysuckle-sweet Turk doing <3

Respect.

Well you see, my toilet paper is merely printed-out posts of northeast. As you can imagine, this amount to plenty of time on the crapper, to say the very least

I like how that works in who northeast really is.

Why do we have to do anything? I don't see their people waving our flags for help in the streets. If they really want us they have to let us know.
There is no way we go in on our own or leading this. We can't solve every conflict. If a lot of countries are wanting to do something, and we are asked to
help maybe. This is very dangerous ground here. Iran goes in....then we do...does Russia get involved?

I absolutely agree. What worries me is that something will transpire between Turkey (either directly or thru Saudi Arabia) and Iran and then NATO is treaty bound to engage the aggressor. That would lead to countries like Russia and Pakistan getting involved. From there everything goes to hell.

That is why I featured Turkey in this topic so much. If something happens Turkey will be involved somehow.

I don't know man but if Iran and Russia wages a war anytime, it must be pretty soon enough for us to see it. Yet I just don't see the entire world battling with each other anymore after the experience of WW II. They've learned to waste lives of other nations in sake of their interests rather than fellow countrymen's lives.

I think they try to avoid it as well. The problem is that at a certain point you are cornered by your alliances.

Let us ssay that Syrian forces attack the rebels on Turkeys soil and some Turkey troops die defending their territory. Turkey can invoke Article 5 of the NATO pact.

That means Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Repub, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom (Britain, Wales, Scotland & Ireland) and the United States (Turkey is excluded in this scenario) are treaty bound to treat it as an attack on them directly.

So do you honor your pact (I think they are duty bound to keep their word) or do you break your word and leave those other 27 countries (28 country members of NATO) without your aid? if you break your word how likely are they to trust you on something down the line?

Edit: As Revo said it is very dangerous ground.

I could see this starting WW3. I think we all see it starting in the middle east. With all the major players backing smaller countries. Does China have a stake in all this?
I still would like to see us sit on the sideline unless the people are Syria are begging for our help. If they want us we'll be there, but are we really in danger if
we just sit on the sidelines?
