ESPN-2012 NBA Player Rankings

This is starting to look like a wish or hope list for espn. haha. maybe i am just bias, but some of these guys are ranked kind of high for what they actually bring to their teams on a given night.
Which means that you think some of the guys who were ranked lower should have been above them? Who?

Calling this right now, Jefferdad is going to bulldoze Davis the first time they meet.

Well, that would be both satisfying and surprising because I don't recall Jefferson ever handling anybody in a manner I would characterize as bulldozing. He'll outscore people, but it's rarely if ever the result of running over them.

keep in mind that this isn't the result of espn's statistical analysis... all they did is ask 104 voters to assign a 1-10 rating to all 400-500 players in the NBA and then average them. if there's a guy who is ranked higher or lower, it's because the 104 voters -- some of whom are very plugged in league-wide and some of whom are merely team bloggers on the truehoop network -- know more about a given guy.

example: all the okc/chicago/miami role players who got some reputation bump because they play on teams that are on TV a lot where guys like doug collins and hubie brown point out their contributions.

orangello, you are following this slightly closer than I am. I came here to make a post about Millsap being #53 only to see you had beaten me to it.

EDIT: I like the picture they used. Reminds of Boozer doing that almost every time he got called for a foul.

I think that's a decent ranking for Millsap. He's ahead of Gerald Wallace, David West and Luis Scola.

Dude. Sap >> Scola, and a West who averaged 12/8 last season. I think he should've nailed top 50, but w/e

No he is not, but apparently the national media thinks so. Ryan Anderson will drop about 30 to 40 spots on next years rankings because he is not playing around Dwight anymore.

I didn't for one second actuality buy into the idea that Mr. Anderson is better than P-Milly aka The Paperboy. Millsap was top 5 in steals last year and is a work horse! Ryan Anderson may shoot threes in volume but Mansap still has range.

True. There are a lot of guys that are getting too much credit because of who they play with. That is what I was getting at.
