Legal Pot

No it most certainly is not stupid. I am not arguing the effects that pot has v. alcohol. Both of them affect your judgement and reaction times. So driving while under the influence of either should be met with extrememly strict laws.

As I said, there is plenty of scientific data that indicates moderate marijuana use doesn't make driving anymore dangerous than a sober driver, and certainly less dangerous than a driver who has had a little to drink but isn't yet over the legal limit.

In your attempt to compare it to the effects of alcohol. Be honest.

Stop trying to turn this into a discussion that it isn't. This is not a pot v. alcohol debate. This is a DUI laws and don't try to drive while impaired discussion.

Right. This is a driving while impaired sub topic, correct? And you are incorrectly assuming that marijuana impairs to the extent that it makes driving dangerous. My contention is that there have been studies which showed moderate marijuana consumption did not have a noticeable impact on driving.

I was always too ****ing paranoid to drive to taco bell for munchies....

Having been in the passenger seat for many a late night food journey I can tell you that stoned drivers
are generally not good drivers.

You guys are making drugs sound boring

I do not do any drugs (unless you count booze a drug and Im staying away from that) so I wouldn't know. They may be God's gift to people. Just don't drive while under their influence.

This, my experience is they think they're driving great, but I've been with many that drive super fast .. and of course others that are driving super slow.

Stoked is, again, pontificating on the strength of the US State. Bomb China! Lock people up like a bawse!

Oh yeah, the last time the US was at war in the far east they were engineering Meth and feeding it to our soldiers. Awesome, eh?

Don't drive on Meth or we lock u up!

Which plays right into how they impair your judgement.

Oh God lol. Clearly all my answers are more government. If you believe that then it shows that you do not listen to what I am really saying on most issues.

Arguments like these illustrate why we should never ever legalize pot.

You like outsourcing our jails, then?

Also, less govt means less drug rehabilitation/treatment, which is the only thing that'll reduce demand.

You're also dependent on the police, which is $$$$$$

History shows that you can't have draconian drug policies without big spending and more State employees

Aren't we already spending the money with our war on drugs?

In my opinion .08 is too low. I know, I know...drunk drivers are worse than Hitler and no one wants to seem sympathetic to them at all. Seriously though, the penalties for being at .09 are way out of whack compared to the danger someone with a BAC of .09 poses. I think a .09 DUI should result in a fine similar to speeding and the driver should get to drive home. No kidding. At about .12 I think people should be arrested, get the $1000plus in fines, get dropped by their insurance company, lose their license for 6 months, etc. like what happens now for someone who in most cases you probably wouldn't be able to tell even had a drink.

So based on that overreaction I don't want pot heads to face DUI charges because they smoked a joint two days ago, either. I think it should come down to the filed sobriety test and the manner in which they were observed driving.
